Right now, thousands of visitors in Florida
are taking an up-close look behind the technology
that will soon take us back to the moon and beyond.
It's all part of NASA's Max Power Show.
Fox's Jonathan Siri has more from the Kennedy Space Center.
This weekend, NASA and its commercial partners have invited
the general public out to come up close and personal with aircraft,
spacecraft, and other new technology that could
be a part of our everyday lives in the very near future.
Today I got a tour of the Vehicle Assembly Building,
or VAB, that's the iconic giant
rocket hangar that's been in use since
the Apollo Moon program of the 1960s.
As we speak, engineers are stacking
the Space Launch System rocket for next year's Artemis
III mission to test lunar landers in low Earth orbit.
The crew includes three Americans and one Italian.
The United States of America is still
the land where dreams can come true.
But we as Europeans, as Italians, as Europeans,
we want to be strong, reliable partners in this endeavor.
This is the greatest endeavor in the history of mankind.
Artemis III will pave the way for the Artemis IV mission,
which will attempt to land the first humans
on the lunar south pole as early as 2028.
But even before that,
robot missions will begin preparing potential landing sites.
You're going to see the first moon-based mission launching
in early January here on a Falcon Heavy from Kennedy Space Center.
And soon, it's going to be happening all the time.
I mean, almost monthly, there's going to be missions.
Bringing infrastructure, bringing experiments,
bringing capabilities that we're gonna wanna demonstrate
before we transition to that next phase of the moon base.
We're actually keeping people there for a long time.
Here at Kennedy Space Center, amazing aircraft,
spacecraft, and moon rovers are on display
at the Max Power Air Show.
NASA and its commercial partners,
as well as the state of Florida,
have announced plans to create an even larger expo in 2028
and make it an annual event.
CAPE WEEK, AS IT'S CALLED, WILL BE HELD AT THE FORMER SPACE
SHUTTLE LANDING STRIP HERE AT THE KENNEDY SPACE CENTER.
