Francis, I don't know if you were able to listen
to what Moses and I were talking about,
but why don't you weigh in from where you
are and bring us up to speed with where things are there.
Yeah, so we're actually in Park Slope, Antoine and Robert,
outside of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's house.
You can see there is a ton of security,
NYPD officers, barricades and blockades,
and that is because there was a planned protest for this morning.
There's been some back and forth over whether
or not the protesters can be here on the sidewalk.
They've now kind of congregated across the street.
We do have video we want to show you.
They even put up sort of a mock data center.
But they talked about Election Day
and what voters in this country clearly want.
We saw a lot of local races where there
were tighter restrictions voters voted for when
it came to the development of some of these AI data structures.
We saw newly elected governors
who had campaigned on the promise of being more restrictive when
it comes to the development of these types of centers.
And so they're saying, based off of the results we're seeing
from Election Day, this is clearly
what voters care about.
They're clearly voting that they do not want AI data centers.
to go further. And so they are asking Senator Schumer
to essentially put a stop to a federal
bill that is up for discussion come Monday.
That bill, Antoine, would basically overhaul
the federal permitting process
and make it easier for some of these companies to develop
their energy and infrastructure projects
that really support some of these AI data centers
that have really been controversial recently over
the past few years, especially.
You know, Francis, we were talking about that just
Before we came to you and before we came on the air,
just as we were getting ready for the show,
a lot of concentration on AI data centers.
And, you know, this, what I imagine, is certainly going
to send a strong message to the minority Senate leader.
What's the feel? Are they angry? Are they more just...
How are you gauging the emotions of those that you get engaged with?
Well, they're definitely passionate.
I wouldn't say angry. They seem very open and flexible to
having these sorts of discussions.
There was actually a plan, Antoine, to march from Senator
Schumer's home here in Park Slope, Brooklyn,
to Congressman Hakeem Jeffries' office in downtown
Brooklyn later this morning.
But they said we are no longer going to make that move because
apparently they had some sort of conversation
with the congressman or maybe heard from his
office to where they felt he was a little more open
to what they had to say. It's unclear exactly
But that plan has already changed this morning.
So to your point, Antoine, they seem open to having these discussions.
They just want to make sure their voices are heard.
And they're trying to draw attention to this subject,
especially following the outcome we saw on Election Day
with a lot of AI data center related measures
on many of those local races all across the country.
All right.
Francis Wang, thank you for reporting for us in Brooklyn.
We know that you've got a lot going on there.
We'll check back in with you at some point today in the newscast.
Thank
you,
Francis,
for
being
You know, just this will be a subject
with us.
of a lot of attention going forward.
All right, Cap. Thank you so much for being with us.
Robert Moses, congratulations also on the marathon last weekend.
Thank you. All right, Tyler, we should go to break. Correct, sir.
And when we do that, we're gonna have more news from live when we come back.
And you're also going to meet the team.
A quick break and we'll be right back.
