Fear and Gibson of Great Britain lead after the rhythm dance at Cup of China
Nov 6, 2026
So to the champions of Skate Canada from last week,
Lila Fear and Lewis Gibson, their rhythm
dance this year to the Gypsy Kings,
I believe Lewis's father was a huge fan of the Gypsy
Kings, served
as a great backdrop
for the final team.
Very
different
pattern
for
their
Golden
Waltz
to
the
other
teams.
I have to respect Lila Fear and Lewis Gibson,
they concluded last season with such bitter
disappointment and coming into this season there
were question marks about where they
would land in the International Ice Dance
Community Rankings this year, they didn't
have the ideal debut of their material
at the Bolero Cup in Sheffield, they elected
then not to compete and their next challenger went back
to work on hard graft and where
There may have been a discussion, as I mentioned in warm-up, about...
Who might take the title here as others aspire
to push them off one of the top spots in the world.
They are the team that have come out and delivered
and skated with cleanliness and confidence and attack.
And there could be excuses
because they've just competed in Canada last week, days ago.
Rightly so Lila, she says she's proud of it
and they should be as you see a bold start position.
And that's what's impressive
is where others may have raised question marks about
Where they're at this season.
Looks like they've done the mental training
and the mental work to make sure that they
are ready and prepared to be competitive
and Lewis maybe just squeaking out the final rotation
in the clockwise sequential twizzles.
One of Lila's future aspirations is to help young people to
find their own personal development maximizing
and so she's definitely an advocate for her own beliefs
and a positive mental attitude.
So we see the rotational lift,
features that they've used successfully before,
and interesting to see now how
the judges will compare
and contrast the teams.
The technical panel giving just one key point,
Lewis' mohawk as part of the golden waltz.
The scores begin.
So 79.31 from Diana and Gleb.
I love you.
Good job, says Laila, but the scores are important.
The comparison is vital to them, I'm sure.
It's a clean 80 points, I'm sure they were hoping for more.
Yeah.
Slightly higher I think last week in Skate Canada,
but they lead the field, the Brits above the Georgians.
