for you and for the team.
Yeah, every time we lose is always a frustration,
no matter the record, no matter if it's a winning season,
losing season, I'm always a competitor and I always want to win.
I never want to lose no matter how the game goes for myself.
Just wanting to win and I feel like we have plenty of opportunities
to win that game and we only hurt ourselves in multiple ways.
So it's just just wanting better
from the whole entire offense, especially.
And I feel like the.
The potential and, you know,
the guys that we have in that room is something very, very special.
So I feel like we're, you know, wasting that if not going out there,
executing the plays that we have called
and just not living to that, you know,
standard that we feel like we live up to every single day.
So just wanting better throughout the whole group.
Why do you feel like it just hasn't happened?
I'm not sure. That's a good question,
but we've got to figure out that answer and figure it out fast.
Justin, when there have been this many different quarterbacks
that you've worked with over the last few years,
how does that affect your outlook on things when it has
been a lot of trying to get on the same page with a new passer?
Um...
Yeah, I mean, it's...
It's not really in my control.
It's not really something that I sit late at night
and stress myself about.
It's more on what can I do to win the game,
what can I do to cause some type of momentum,
some type of energy on the sidelines,
some type of momentum plays out there
and affect the game to win at the end of the day.
So that's the main objective is to win the game,
and I want to see those stack.
Of course, this is the NFL, and it's hard to win,
but every chance that we get out there to step foot on that field
and the expectations that I have personally for this team,
I feel like we should win every game.
That's just the mindset, that's the expectations that I have
every time I step foot out there on the field.
Coming out of that game, was that as frustrated as you've been
just with where the offense is at?
Definitely not for sure.
There's definitely multiple other frustrating times throughout
the years that I've been here. But, you know,
that's definitely a frustrating game just going in there.
Of course, it's a hostile environment.
Of course, they have a good team over there.
But, you know, I feel like we hurt ourselves into losing that game,
you know, and it's good things to look at on that tape.
given us good things to take from what we did out there, but also.
Looking at it, and I'm pretty sure all
of you guys have looked at it as well,
and seeing the amount of potential plays that we had out there.
So that's kind of been throughout the season so far.
So it's just trying to be better on offense
and try to figure it out fast
before it gets too late and it gets to the postseason
and we're looking back on ifs and what-ifs and should-ifs.
So I'm looking at that now before looking at it later.
What goes through your head when you watch back the film
and you see yourself running so open on so many plays?
Just continue to do what I do, continue to get open,
continue to be that leader on the team.
It definitely gets tough
and it gets frustrating at times that you see us open,
and it's a lot of things that goes into those type of plays.
Just like I said earlier and last week, one person can mess up a play
On the offensive side of the ball, then the whole play
is messed up versus on defense, it's a little bit different.
You know, everybody is not depending on one another
to execute a play like the offensive side of the ball.
So we just got to execute all 11 guys on each single play,
and then I feel like the outcome will be a lot different.
Playing the Bills, just 2022,
that crazy catch you had, that game was wild.
What do you remember from that crazy game?
Yeah, definitely a crazy moment in my career.
Just, you know, being in a hostile environment,
being the first time in Buffalo
and against a crazy good team.
And, you know, just with the opportunities that I had,
I feel like I just made the most of them.
Obviously, the catch is the main storyline behind everything,
but just during that moment, during that time,
just Kirk coming to me and just telling me I got to make the play.
I got to have this opportunity to just think about what I'm going
to do and how I'm going to catch this ball,
but he was going to me before the two-minute was up.
Just making that grab and ultimately ending the game with a dub was...
You know, definitely the highlight of the year
and the highlight of my career.
Just, you know, the whole entire game
and ultimately winning at the end of it.
Justin, as a football quarterback,
gets lots of blame always just because of the public nature of it.
Like, what's your sense of Kyler?
To this point and involved in all the things you're talking about.
Yeah, I feel like collars continue to grow.
I feel like collars continue to get comfortable with this offense.
And I feel like the plays that are there
are plays that he's well capable of making.
And, you know, those are plays that, you know,
we've seen him make multiple times throughout.
The season, throughout practice, and training camp as well.
So we definitely have faith in him.
We have confidence in him to go out there
and be that guy that we need him and want him to be.
But all in all, it's just executing our plays
and just coming ready to play.
And I feel like, you know, once he gets back out there
and he gets more comfortable with the system,
more comfortable with just throwing
to these different type of receivers,
then I feel like he's going to look a lot better in y'all eyes.
But, you know, we see that.
Every single day we see that type of collar
that you know we need out there on Sundays every single day.
So just bringing that on Sundays and you know we're behind him.
We're confident in him. So we're just going to keep riding with him.
I see the training room this week
but what are the two of you kind of working on?
What are you telling him just in your connection with him?
Yeah, I mean, there's really nothing much
to say besides just executing our plays, making the throws,
making the good routes, making the good decisions and getting open.
That's really the main objective.
It's really not a whole, you know, formula
or a whole rocket science on, you know, what can we do to get better?
It's just simple, small things that we're doing to hurt ourselves
and in different ways throughout the game that make us lose that game.
But all in all, we're
We're still 6-1.
You know, we're still a good team.
We're still, you know, going to continue
to get better every single game
and every single day.
So, you know, the little bitty things that we have,
we think that are the, you know, end of the world.
Things that are hurting us
or frustrating us at the moment is really not the biggest thing.
But also, we feel like the expectations of this offense
and of this team, it falls under the offense.
And we've got to score points.
We've got to do better in holding our defense.
Our defense is holding the standard
that we need to hold ourselves as well.
So just going out there and executing our plays is the main objective.
Did the losses hit you different at all?
Year seven, I mean, it seems like they
might stick with you a little more.
I mean,
coaches say this all the time, where it's the longer you're in it,
the losses stick with you more.
Have you found that happens for you at all?
No, it's the same. Honestly, it's the same type of feeling that I had,
you know, the first year I came here
and having that type of season that I had that year.
So, I mean, losses is never losing is never in my DNA and it's
never something that I was accustomed of my whole entire career.
So, you know, definitely losing it hits deeper than than anybody else.
And I think I love this game a lot more than a lot,
a lot of other people in this league.
You know, I don't care if, you know, we're 15 and 1.
You know, I don't want to lose
a single game, and that's just my mindset,
and that's always how I have been ever since I was a little kid.
And, you know, as I got older, the tears kind of shied away,
and, you know, more of a grown man, but I hate to lose.
I really hate it, and that's never something that I, you know,
get accustomed to and get comfortable with.
I'm always trying to figure out the ways to win
and be better personally and, you know, for this team.
Thank you y'all, I appreciate it.
