What I would say overall about the election,
and I heard from people across the country,
I was speaking with Brandon Presley in Mississippi today,
he ran for governor a few years ago
down there, Josh Shapiro in Pennsylvania.
I just think there's just a great sense
of relief that the democracy is still there.
This was not necessarily, and I agree with this,
this wasn't solely about democratic
policies and people going for that.
They understood that the cruelness, the chaos,
the insanity of the Trump administration,
had just reached its point, and we had great candidates out there,
and if you listen to them, the vast majority of them talk about
lowering prices for people, they talk about addressing the issues
of why are we in a trade war with Canada, the war in Iran,
real solutions, so I get great comfort that the democracy is strong.
I have been saying for months, and I traveled everywhere,
I was in Nashville three weeks
ago, and I could feel that Tennessee, something was happening.
There's a great desire now to get something done,
and I think the same thing will hold
true here.
Senator Klobuchar is the absolute perfect pick for this.
She has a profile and a temperament
that I think she can bring people back into this.
I think there's going to be a desire
of Republican legislators to carve their own path and not
be so tightly tied to the Trump
administration and some of these issues.
Thank
you.
A spike in the football attitude,
there's more of look, this went way too far.
These were reckless policies like Metro surge,
there needs to be accountability.
I would say this, that I think we can multitask.
It's not about seeking revenge on anyone, but
it's about having someone come back
and answer for the killing of Renee and Alex.
It's about having accountability
to make sure it doesn't happen again, but
Lower gas prices, lower interest rates,
continue to build for a more sustainable future, so
I'm very excited about it.
I think it worked out well.
I'm proud of Minnesotans.
Once again, it looks like we're right with Maine for voter turnout,
which, again, I think
is a direct reflection of our civic engagement.
We vote high numbers, we defended our neighbors during Metro's surge,
we volunteer and give
more money to charity than any other state.
I think Minnesota's in a healthy spot.
Any major priorities, what's
on your to-do list for the last seven weeks?
Well, I think it's to make clear to Minnesotans
and show them that the program integrity issues,
these things are on the verge of being fixed.
And now we're going to get a fair shake in this,
where some of these people can go sit
in front of Congress and answer why they're telling lies,
why they're not giving the money
to Minnesota when we've met every single requirement
that no other state could meet in two years,
we met in four months.
We're going to be able to show the numbers of what's been changed,
what our algorithms are showing in terms of this.
I'm under no illusion that people won't
continue to try and commit crimes,
but the fact of the matter here is people stole from Minnesotans.
We caught them, we put them in jail, and we continue to do so.
So my priority is to hand off the strongest
and most secure program integrity in the country.
You're going to see, again, we're AAA bond rated, we have historic
rainy day funds, and our economy is strong and resilient.
So I think more than anything,
it's to make sure that this new administration and the new legislature
is set up in a position to understand clearly where we stand,
to continue to move forward on those things
that we know have made a difference.
Feeding our kids, paid family medical leave,
some of the resiliency, and then the refocus
on Minnesota's strength, especially around medical technology.
We've really done a lot reaching out
and getting foreign investment now, for example
with Japan is now our largest direct foreign investment.
Companies coming into Minnesota
and seeing it as a great place to do business.
Plans for January 5th?
I'm going to get in my 2017 Buick and drive.
I'm practicing again, my driving.
So I'm going to drive, and I think the goal is, my hope is,
is too long after that that I'll be teaching again.
I think that's what I want to go do.
Thank you.
Thank you, Governor.
It's great.
We'll see you again soon.
Let's go talk to Colin.
