BREAKING: Florida Gators ANNOUNCE Starting QB vs Oklahoma!
Nov 6, 2026
We have breaking news,
breaking news, live as we are.
I'm pulling it up now.
Are you guys ready to see what it is?
Miami lost.
Florida is expected to make the change at quarterback Tramell Jones,
expected to be your starter against Oklahoma.
Sources tell CBS Sports, reported by Matt Zintz.
Breaking news here as we are live, just popped up,
and we're having fun discussing Malachi Toney,
but this is way more exciting as we have our quarterback.
So my gut feeling was correct on Monday
of how John was navigating that pressure
of how he had a plan,
and I'm still kind of leaning even more to my tinfoil hat thought
of I think he trusted Buster with the Aaron Bilo thing, which...
He wanted to see it.
So I'm really excited to see this offense this week.
We heard him talk about how he got into the meetings on Monday.
We saw what he did.
So look, this is what you want from a head coach.
You want to see him take over.
And I know a lot of people were kind of mad of how he's navigated.
I think there is a part where you have to let your coordinators
who you hired and paid $1.2 million make the decisions.
But yes, at some point, you've got to step in.
And I think that's what this gives me the vibe.
Here we go.
We're making the transition.
Zim, zim time.
Ready to rock and roll.
Very excited for Trammell Jones.
Very excited to see this thing unfold the way that it has.
Hayden Jones is going to be on the right side.
Fletcher Westfall needs to protect his blind side a whole lot more.
But thoughts, gentlemen, on Zim, zim.
Love it.
Trammell Jones getting the start against Oklahoma.
Breaking news.
Go ahead, Connor.
I'm going to go use the bathroom real fast.
Okay.
I mean, it's about time.
The thing is, though, people are kind
of overreacting, and they did the other day.
I don't think there's a good option here at quarterback.
I just think that Trammell is the much better option here.
He plays more winning football than Philo does.
And if you're not playing the guy
who plays more winning football than Philo,
then you're not doing the right thing.
But last week, for example,
when Trammell rolled to his left and threw a pick,
it's like on the two-yard line, that play,
it's like, yeah, that's why it's still a debate.
He makes mistakes too, but he just makes less of them.
And the offense flows better when he's out there
that I personally don't think it's a debate.
It's a debate on who should go.
I don't even consider this breaking news in my mind.
If he wasn't out there, we would have had big issues.
Agreed.
And I'm excited to see it.
Now, will it make a difference?
No, probably not.
If you can't run the ball and you can't protect him.
But if you can run the ball and protect him,
then yeah, it'll make a difference.
You hope to see improvements on the offensive side of the ball
the way you have with the defensive side of the ball.
I said it after Texas, and again, I got unnecessary flack for this,
but I was on board with Jones after Texas.
He did a lot to win over the job and showed some composure
that I saw slipping away from Philo.
I trusted in this team to...
You know, make the right decision.
And I think that the coach was trying to, you know,
I don't think coach has an ego or anything in this as maybe more
so as Buster may have with it.
And yeah, look, I think that kind of falls on Buster for sure.
And so now here we are with Jamel Jones getting to start.
Excited to see what he's able to do with another week under his belt
with the team going in his direction.
Texas was one hell of a place to get your first start at.
We saw the, you know,
the growing pains happen very quickly in that game.
And I also saw this young man become a superstar.
And a superstar in the terms of, you know, for who he is.
I mean, not a superstar like we're talking like Heisman guys,
but just a superstar from...
Him, that's not the best word.
I kind of realized that could be taken out of context.
But yeah, he grew a ton.
And I also believe that he grew a lot
during that Georgia game as well.
So he's had, think about Trammell, man.
His entire time at University of Florida
has been thrown into a fire-esque situation.
And almost like try to save
or kind of just like a second, an afterthought, right?
Even the Texas start was an afterthought.
And so this, to me,
finally feels like the passing of the torch of like,
okay, now it's yours.
Can we agree on that?
Because the Texas-
Yes, it's from here on out.
Yeah, like you have now earned the starting role.
Not that you haven't earned it before.
This is, again, it's got to be so close to this
because the sensitivity will fly high,
especially with our guy here.
He loves to get emotional about this.
And don't mind me, G.
Um,
I'm just busting.
But this is now turning a table to take over and be it.
And so I'm really excited to see how he responds
because this is now, in my opinion, going to be what we get.
And then how do you continue to grow on top of this?
We've seen a lot of this team continue to grow.
And now I'm excited to see Trammell grow.
Congratulations, boys and girls,
because this show is brought to you by PrizePix.
And I congratulate you because you finally made it
to college football season, boys and girls.
Yes, that is right.
You can now get in on the action on Price Picks with college football.
It is time to get up after it.
This week, we're rocking and rolling, feeling pretty good.
But our guy, Micah Alejandro from Hawaii.
Then we've got, of course, King Miller
with USC getting some rush touchdowns.
I know we don't like FSU around these parks,
but I think Ashton Daniels is going to use
a little legs in this upcoming week
for some nice football to get him more in his rushing yard.
You can now get in on the action
with Price Picks for the rushing season.
And individual games.
And on the app, you can pick your team to just win the game outright
when you use that code HMA.
Download the app today using the link in the description.
You play $5, you get $150 if you win that lineup for brand new users.
And take advantage. Ride with the crowd, okay?
Use the great features that PrizePay has to offer PrizePay.
It is good to be around.
Yeah, I'm excited.
It gets to shut up the people on Twitter
that were saying all kinds of crazy stuff about the staff.
Who could care less about those people?
Those people are so unimportant.
They need to be shut up.
So I think Tramiel is...
The guy that should have started last week,
I like that he's going to get full reps with
the ones, finally, as opposed to just the Texas game.
I thought that you kind of had a little juice going in.
I'm not saying that he beats Georgia, but you had something going.
And I think they touched the grill,
figured out it was hot, and figured out that Trammell
needs to be the starting quarterback.
Is this a great...
It's time to get your feet wet.
Well, Oklahoma's defense is pretty good.
The guy has been thrown into the absolute flinger with defense.
I mean, just gauntlet, right?
So you look at the three defenses he's played against.
You got Texas, which is good.
You know, Colin Simmons didn't go out to the fourth quarter,
so they had Colin Simmons most of the time.
You have Georgia after they were down,
and Georgia was just able to just pin
their ears back and get after them.
And then now you have Oklahoma, a very, very good, savvy.
Defense that that'll try to hurt you. They're a bunch of junkyard dogs.
They like to hit over there, Oklahoma. And so, you know, but.
You are the starting quarterback for the University of Florida.
Congratulations.
Don't let it get to your head.
And let's go ahead and get that dub Saturday
and start the championship run that we're
going to we're going to start on starting Saturday.
OK, what I mean, love he could go for it.
What I would love to have happen as well.
Obviously, we've had a ton of conversation in the offseason about.
The quarter are going into the off season,
but Florida having to go and get a polar quarterback.
And right now I feel like that's kind of our feeling,
right?
We don't feel confident.
Yes.
It's headed.
And this is going to be an early overreaction,
but I've lived in this world enough.
You see where I'm headed with this Cody.
There's,
he has an opportunity to,
to,
to put all of that to bed.
And I would love for him to do that.
Right.
Because I would love to go save that money.
Hang on, buddy.
Five game free trial.
Yeah.
Of like, hey, if you're in Tramiel's corner
of like this, look, dude, like right now,
like the hang on the the noise doesn't support,
you know, hey, that they feel confident in
the quarterback room.
So go take over.
Go show them like, OK, we can continue to work with this guy.
We can't go with this guy.
I know I'm asking a lot, but look,
if I know I'm thinking of the GM show, I would love
to feel a little more confident with the quarterback room.
Here's another opportunity for us to maybe find some answers that look
either way,
like we'll know where we are,
but this,
I know it sounds like an overreaction,
but dude,
the thing about the,
just again,
look at the breakout of the season and how much we've overreacted in
eight weeks.
So I've seen crazier things.
One thing that people,
okay,
go ahead,
go ahead.
We're going to open it back.
One people,
one thing people kind of overreacted times is his pocket presence is
really bad.
Like they're not lying.
There's times where guys are right behind them and he just has
No idea. No idea. Like a very bad feel in the pocket.
But that can be that can be tinkered with and that you can start
to develop those instincts. Maybe sometimes you have it or you don't.
But those can be developed slowly.
What can't be developed is what he does have.
And when you meet the kid, you realize he's not the biggest.
He's not the tallest. He's not the bulkiest.
He's just such a good person. Like people follow him. And
Everybody who's ever spoken with Tramiel, me included,
have came out of that interaction and said,
wow, that kid, I would run through a wall for that kid.
And for that reason, sometimes that's all it takes.
Sometimes you don't need the perfect pocket presence
or the perfect decision-making back there.
He doesn't have it.
No quarterback does have it.
But he has the ability to make people want to play for him.
That means half the battle, especially at that position.
It means something a lot.
And I think it's very important to find for people for sure.
Look, nobody has ever had a bad word to say about him.
Listen, this is why I'm juiced up,
because obviously you get the game, the free five game trial.
Well, not free, but you get a five game trial.
All right.
Four.
Four.
Four.
Well, unless, you know.
Obviously, the playoff run.
I hear you.
Go ahead.
So, playoff run.
Sorry, sorry.
If Tramiel brings us to the playoffs, and say we get bounced.
Say we get bounced the second round.
We get a one-round playoff game.
You have.
You're not going to have to go and spend on a high-end quarterback.
And when I put my GM cap on, I say, okay, this guy can do it.
He did it in the toughest slate.
You know, he came into some tough games.
He showed us some spark.
He showed us some grit.
He got us to the playoffs.
Now let's revamp this offensive line.
Let's spend the money where it counts.
Offensive line.
Let's help him out there.
Let's help him out on the defense
with some players that we need to sure up.
Let's put a quality team around him with the money we're going to save
as opposed to going out and getting the devil you don't know.
I'd rather have the devil I know than the one I don't
because you can go get a transfer quarterback that's highly touted
And maybe...
A good OC got him to light it up.
But you don't know what Tramiel brings is exactly what Korn was saying.
People want to follow this kid.
You know, there's a lot of quarterbacks
that have made it to national championships
that don't do anything in the NFL off
of just what Korn was talking about,
the buy-in factor.
Like the TCU quarterback, I mean, they were ready to –
Dug in his year.
Dug in.
Max Dug in it and done nothing in the NFL.
But everybody was ready to run through a wall for that kid
because he was the heartbeat of that team.
And I think that – hear me out.
This guy goes out and he balls out.
You will have to still bring in
another transfer portal quarterback, yes,
but you won't have to spend the amount of money
that you are on a high-end one.
And you can build this team around Trammell
if he makes you a playoff run and it looks good.
Yeah, look, I think...
Here's my thing.
I think, again, I want to make sure.
This is all hypothetical here.
I think people sometimes get frustrated
of, like, we're changing our minds here.
But, again, I think the point that we're kind of going to...
I've been on ZimZim from day one.
I know, but if he comes in and is able to just really get,
hang on a second, oh my gosh, don't leave that, golly,
a command of the offense, then the conversation does shift.
And again, like right now, we're kind of looking at it as a,
hey, we got to spend a lot of money in other places,
which can be a bit alarming.
And so if he can give you some security of like, hey,
this guy really grew up and became what we needed him to be,
and outperformed what maybe we thought we saw,
you know, at least for, and again.
This isn't a shot.
We've seen him continue to grow and continue to mature.
If that happens, the conversation changes.
And we're talking like, do you still get a portal guy?
I don't know.
I don't, you know, like maybe like,
maybe not necessarily as a high quality guy,
but maybe you go get a, a file S guy
because you want the depth in the room.
Like that's a different conversation
we can have down the road.
I have no, because we don't know how the rest of the room
is going to unfold yet.
Right.
But you are going to have Will Griffin going
in his second year and David Davidson.
So it's going to be a very young room.
Right.
And can you find a guy that is willing to do this?
