Union Grove School Administrator Thomas Johnson arrested yesterday, and
today he is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography.
Our Racine Kenosha County reporter Ben Hanson has search warrants
that give us a lot more information behind this case.
Two charges of child pornography have now
been officially filed against Union Grove School
Administrator Thomas Johnson.
Search warrants showed that this entire investigation was
triggered by an anonymous letter sent
to Union Grove School District leadership and Johnson's
wife on October 21st. The author saying
in this letter they found what they thought were
inappropriate messages and photos between Johnson
and past and current students on his phone.
This is where investigators would
eventually find the child pornography,
but police didn't say whether these images were of students.
The author of the letter also saying they've
been having an affair with Johnson for several years.
When police interviewed Johnson on October 23rd and 26th,
he admitted to having an affair with a teacher
at Union Grove Elementary School for six years.
He also said he didn't know who wrote the letter.
When investigators talked to the woman
that Johnson had been having an affair with,
she indicated she didn't write the letter.
In the letter, the author said Johnson would fire them
if they told anyone about the texts
and photos to students on his phone.
It also details marital problems between Johnson
and his wife and that he is a quote, very
heavy drinker.
The woman also said she didn't know about
Johnson's personal life or drinking habits.
In the warrant, the investigator said he believes
that this woman may have written the letter
and that she was not being forthcoming.
Union Grove Principal Tom Blair has stepped
in as acting school administrator,
and Johnson is expected in court on November 12th.
In Kenosha County, Ben Hanson, Fox 6 News.
Ben, thank you.
A new report is shedding light on the challenges
of preventing domestic violence deaths in Milwaukee
before they turn deadly.
Fox 6 investigator Nicole Herzog joining us now live from the newsroom
to break down the findings. What did you learn?
Yeah, Ted and Mary, we learned from this report
that Milwaukee's domestic violence high risk team operated through
Sojourner Family Peace Center is seeing more than twice as many cases
as it did six years ago. Repeat cases make up a third of that number.
Now the report found three victims who had previously
been identified as high risk were murdered by their abuser, which
The group says is a low homicide rate
in comparison to the 10,000 high-risk cases
identified since the team was created.
But advocates say the risk of death significantly increases
when victims aren't connected with services and support.
A trend that is concerning to me
is that the reality is that most of the couples
for whom someone ends up dying were not known to Sojourner.
They were not known to law enforcement prior to that lethal incident.
The report finds the team was typically brought
in only after law enforcement responded to a
particularly deadly or abusive incident.
The group says one of its goals is to intervene earlier
before an emergency response is necessary.
For now, live in the newsroom, Nicole Herzog,
Fox 6 investigators. All right, Nicole, thank you.
We should point out Sojourner offers a 24-hour
hotline and crisis shelter for those in need of support.
Yeah, we have those details on our
website, fox6now.com and our Fox local app. Nicole, thank you.
