This is life-changing money.
Somebody out there has a Powerball ticket worth $847 million,
and we now know it was bought right here.
This is the Wegmans in Montvale,
and we can tell you it was bought inside
at exactly 10:46 in the morning on Tuesday.
I'm going to tell everyone.
Check your tickets. The New Jersey Lottery
is now waiting for that Powerball winner to come
forward. Technically, that person has one year
to claim their $847 million check. It was bought
at the vending machine inside of the Montvale Wegmans on Tuesday,
and it's the second largest
jackpot in New Jersey history after
that $1 billion winning ticket bought in Neptune of 2024.
If you are sitting at home examining tickets,
the winning numbers are as follows.
15, 34, 41, 53, and 56, the red Powerball was 21.
If the numbers match, the lottery director has some advice.
You should sign the back of the ticket.
You should take a picture of it.
Take a picture of the front and back.
I would call a lawyer, I would call a tax accountant,
and I would call a financial advisor.
This is an extraordinary amount of money.
And you're going to need help from professionals.
Wegmans received $30,000 as a bonus for selling that ticket.
The store manager said they've already decided what to do with it.
Wegmans is going to donate that check directly
to the Checkout Hunger campaign,
which we're really excited about.
Money that will be sent to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
As for winnings, the take-home
for the one-time payment is $363 million,
or the winner can choose to accept the winnings over 29 years.
In New Jersey, the winner is allowed to remain anonymous if they wish.
In Montvale, I'm Chris Keating, News 12 New Jersey.
