The day after a lost election fought
on the battleground of affordability,
Donald Trump wanted to talk about his new ballroom.
This building when it's completed will be one of the great
one of the great buildings in Washington DC.
He acknowledged the war in Iran inflated prices
but insisted he made the right decision.
Because it drove the gasoline up a little bit short term.
And probably it's true, but at the same time,
if I had it to do again, I'd have to do it again,
because long term, it's the only answer.
You can't let Iran have a nuclear weapon.
Did you like it?
Oh wow.
Trump spent the last month on the campaign trail,
but for someone who's defied political gravity,
he couldn't stop the Democrat wave.
Winning where no one expected, taking the House and the Senate,
sweeping places like Texas, the nation's largest conservative state,
for the first time in more than 30 years.
Some results are still outstanding,
but the Democrats will have majorities in both houses.
And the man who will almost certainly be the next Speaker of the House
when the new Congress convenes in January says
the hard work begins on day one.
The American people have chosen House Democrats.
Because they want to see a dramatic change in direction,
and that's exactly what House Democrats
will deliver beginning on day one.
The Senate race was predicted to be tight. It wasn't.
Democrats will have control in January, and a comfortable majority.
One of the first priorities, ending the war with Iran.
Look, we are going to end the war.
We have some Republicans already who have joined us in ending the war.
And the founding fathers had the power
of the purse as one of the ways of deterring
a president who does war without the consent of the American people.
The results were a seismic shift in American politics,
and Washington will change come
January.
Donald Trump says he's willing to work with Democrats,
and they have to find something
new to offer to the American people rather than just opposition
to the man in the Oval
Office.
