Usually my seat right here is stacked all the way
to the brim full of records and other merchandise.
When we're in regions with Buc-ee's,
the Buc-ee's yogurt dipped pretzels.
I'm
Kyle.
I'm Miles and I'm Phil and we're the band Knight.
Right now we're on tour the
East Coast primarily.
This is our first headline run in the United States. It's
also our last stop for this run of shows.
Yes. We're here in Chicago at the Beat
Kitchen. So this is Betty White.
Betty White is our Chevy Express 3500 15
passenger van
and yeah she gets us from point A to point B in one piece.
Alright, so yeah, I do most of the driving,
but I'm old and I get tired, so these boys are always here to pick up,
and they do a lot of the late night stuff,
last leg of long drives, because they've got a buddy system
that gets them just cranked down the road, so that's pretty nice.
Most of the time, whoever's in the co-captain chair
will help navigate some of the music entertainment.
Or just the general feeding of snacks and keeping his driver alive.
Well typically who's in this seat or at least on for this run
It's our sound guy Mitch and he's been the passenger princess
and we've been the backseat drivers
And we've been listening to a lot of well
I guess a combination of things a lot
of classic rock a lot of Phil's 90s jams
Yeah, he's pulling up Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains and
oftentimes
When we're trying to really relax we might be in the back
Completely silent with our headphones on,
but we're playing anything, mostly old stuff
like 80s, 90s, that kind of thing.
As previously mentioned, we have road snacks.
They're not the greatest in terms of nutrition,
but it's distracting from being tired.
We've got our downy dryer sheets because laundry
and smelling halfway decent on tour is important.
This is our sound guy snacks.
And all we have to say is, can I have a bump?
And this is what we get.
And you get the cheddar cheese goldfish.
We've got gum because breath is important.
There's bottles of water everywhere.
We typically have luggage stacked.
To about here, because the gear sits in the back
and we still gotta have luggage, so.
This is where I sit. I'm in the middle
of everything, the chaos right here.
This is, he's back here drinking the fog juice, the fog liquid.
That's what is keeping me hydrated.
Yeah.
Usually my seat right here is stacked all
the way to the brim full of records
and other merchandise.
And then some of our costumes, here's a suit coat, or...
It's kind of chaotic right now
because we just loaded in one of our suit coats right here.
So that's kind of where I'm at.
So I'm navigating because, well, Mitch is supposed to navigate,
but I end up navigating to help him out,
especially with the inner city driving.
And, yeah, this is the setup right now.
There's nobody else that we can fit in here.
And this right here is our merch rack.
This sometimes goes in the building,
and thankfully today there's enough merch racks in the venue.
We don't need it.
It's back here is just literally stacked
to the brim like there's just no we can't fit any no trailer
So we fit everything back here
And we have a full lighting production full drum kit IEM all
the merch all the merch merchandise takes with probably the most yeah
It's a lot. I am listening to music quite a lot
I'm also dealing a lot with the social media interaction
and making posts. So that's the first thing I do in the afternoon
Starting our drive. So those are my responsibilities,
and we're probably communicating back and forth,
maybe getting back to some emails and
I have coffee actually. This right here, maybe?
Yeah, we're always drinking coffee
And we have a French press that we bring with us
that first thing in the morning in the hotel
We make ourselves a brew and then later on in the green room.
We'll make ourselves another brew
But yeah, I don't have that much responsibility. Neither do I. I'm
I'm guessing you can call me the tour manager
because I did all the advancing.
So I have all the emails and all the stuff organized on a sheet.
Most of my job has been done before we even left.
Yeah, man, Diet Coke and coffee for us.
I would say Diet Coke and coffee.
So, yeah, we're always getting Diet Coke.
And we bring coffee from home or we'll stop at a third-wave coffee shop
and get ourselves some fancy beans.
Yes.
I mean, I guess we're not really getting candies.
I mean, Mitch and Phil, they are the snack dogs.
We handle the candy and the snacks.
When we're in regions with Buc-ee's,
the Buc-ee's yogurt, dips, pretzels.
That is our, that's our demon vice, man.
There's a Bucky's hat right over there.
Yeah, yeah, we're always buying things Bucky's.
Yeah, we got a souvenir this time around.
Got a ball cap from Bucky's.
We love snacks, any kind of salty snack.
That's it.
I'm a big fan of ice cream,
so if there's some kind of ice cream stop, then I'm down.
Andy's Custards.
Yeah, Andy's Custards is my favorite.
All right, so here we go.
Betty's got a lot of space in the rear.
Believe it or not, the entire band fits back here.
Typically, there's two other bench seats for a 15-passenger.
We pull those out, we're able to get drum kit, IEM rig.
Full complement of guitar bass, two synth rigs,
full lighting rig, controllers for all the samples and lights,
plus our merch, which takes up an enormous amount of space.
So this is the epitome of putting 10 pounds
of stuff into a two-pound bag.
Those empty bags were merch.
They were spare merch, and they're all sold out, so I'm sorry, Chicago.
We're the ones slinging everything out
of the venue to hand off to Phil and
Mitch. He's the Tetris king. Yeah, and I've been working out of these
Chevy 15 passengers for so long I just...
I've got a great sense of what you can get done safely,
so yeah, that's my gig.
I'm OCD too, so I like for things to fit just so.
