Jazz Chisholm Jr. Says He’d Rather Build Than Join the Dodgers. Will He Prove It?
Nov 4, 2026
Jazz Chisholm once said that he would
rather join the Angels than the Dodgers,
and now that he's actually a free agent,
I would really like to see if he stands by that.
Earlier this year, Jazz made it pretty clear that he wasn't interested
in joining a super team just to chase a championship.
His exact words were,
I would rather build my roof than go to the Dodgers.
And you know what? I kind of love that mentality.
Because in an era where it feels like every superstar wants
to join the same handful of championship contenders,
it's refreshing to see someone say they'd rather build
something than buy into something that's already been built.
And here's where things get interesting.
The Angels have actually been identified
as a potential landing spot for Chisholm this offseason.
Honestly, it makes some sense. The Angels had one
of the worst offenses in baseball this year,
they desperately need help at second base,
and Jazz would bring some much-needed personality
and excitement to the franchise.
However, Jazz hit just .231 with 19 home runs this season,
so he's not exactly entering free agency
with unlimited leverage. And yes, there's some irony
in a guy who just played for the New York Yankees talking about
not wanting to join a super team,
but I do respect the bigger point he's making.
Not every player has to take the easiest possible
path to a championship. Someone has to be willing
to take a chance on a struggling franchise and
And if Jazz really believes that, well, here's his chance to prove it.
