Porch Fest returns this weekend.
The beloved music festival brings more than 100 live performances
to porches, patios, and parks across Adams Morgan.
And here to give us a scoop on what
you can expect this year
and the new addition waiting for you is Executive Director of Adams
Morgan Partnership, Kristen Barden.
Kristen, it's so good to see you again.
Good morning. Thank you for having me.
Absolutely. This is one of those events
that people literally put on their calendars. You
can't miss it every year. It's a tradition.
So for those who don't know, how would you
describe Porch Fest?
Yeah, so Porch Fest is Adams Morgan's most fun day of the year.
We do this in the fall and the spring,
and we have 80 performances happening across the
neighborhood on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.,
and one of the things that we've added this
year is a, because we're in November and this is holiday.
Right. We wanted to encourage people to kick off their shopping and
we've added a vintage market to 18th Street and also arts on Belmont.
So those are two things that people can look forward to.
In addition to fantastic music all over the neighborhood.
That's what I call a one stop shop.
Well, here's a better question, then.
How do you plan your day around all of the festivities, would you say?
Yes.
Yes. Well, go to admoporchfest.com. There's a map on the website,
and you can check out all of the band locations. Also,
make sure to visit one of our info booths to pick up a free wristband.
The wristbands will get you discounts at over 40 businesses
in the neighborhood, and the wristbands are completely free.
That's a good way to give back to your local business owners as well.
Kristen, you've been in studio with us over the years.
We've featured some of the partnering bands as well
and their performances.
Talk more about how varied it is, even the genres.
There's literally something for everybody.
Yeah, there is, absolutely.
There's everything from bluegrass to go-go.
To hip-hop, the headliner this year is Odyssey,
who's a local D.C. native,
and we're super excited to bring him to our main stage at Marie Reed.
Also, the School of Rock partners with us and all of their...
Teen bands will be performing at the Marie Reed Soccer Field.
So we also have expanded into Calorama Park and Walter Pierce Park.
So it's really it's going to be a fantastic day.
And it sounds like from the weather forecast
that the weather is going to cooperate for us.
I was like, tomorrow will break the streak in a dry weather.
But Tucker says things should be much better and clearer this weekend.
So, Kristen, thank you.
Early congrats on what I know will be a really,
really good fall porch fest all over again.
And hopefully I can get out and enjoy a bit of it.
Take care.
All right, great.
Thank you so much.
