Welcome back. Several races remain undecided this morning.
Okay, so it also includes a few
propositions that were voted on across North Texas,
and we got Paige Ellenberger here who's
going to break that down for us. Hey there, Paige.
Hey, Lauren. Yeah, good morning. Let's start off
with Dallas County's proposition.
A, votes are still being counted, but it appears the tax hike
was not approved. That plan would have required
Dallas County homeowners to pay more in property
taxes to help fight homelessness and fund outreach programs.
It would support housing and mental
Health treatment again this.
This raise has not been called, only about 80% reporting here.
Meantime, in the city of Dallas, Prop A is projected to fail as well.
That was the proposition to fund police training facilities
and emergency operations,
replace old police buildings.
The city was asking for a more than $440 million bond to do so.
Voters were not on board with this measure either.
Dallas City Councilwoman Carol Mendison,
who opposed the bond proposal, says
residents rejected it due to accountability.
The campaign says it'll push for better bond.
language come next May.
And over in Plano, a fight for a tax to fund the Dallas Stars' new
arena was shot down. Prop A there would have allowed
the city to add a venue tax to pay off
the new arena sitting at the Willow Bend site.
55% of voters voted against that tax. Plano leaders
say they'll find another way to fund the project,
but the arena, it's still being built. The Stars
hope to open their 2031 season there in five years.
For Good Day, I'm Paige Ellenberger.
