All right, on this election day,
voters here in North Texas have a big decision to make for U.S.
Senate. It's been a tight race between James Tallarico
and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Dan Godwin, live outside of a polling location in Dallas,
with a look at that race. Hi, Dan.
Well, good morning, Paige.
Months and months of campaigning and speeches and TV spots
will all come to a conclusion tonight,
which will undoubtedly be a relief to many.
The most closely watched race in Texas,
the battle for the U.S. Senate on the final night
of his clear eyes, full hearts tour,
Democrat James Tallarico made his final pitch to voters
as a fight against what he calls a corrupt political system.
Tallarico says this race isn't about one party versus another,
but about everyday Texans
versus the wealthy and powerful.
We are running against the embodiment of this corrupt system.
We are running against the most corrupt politician in Texas history.
Ken Paxton represents everything that's wrong with our politics.
He doesn't serve us. He serves himself.
In Allen, Attorney General Ken Paxton gathered
with supporters at a Tex-Mex restaurant.
Paxton originally planned to end his come-and-take-it bus tour
at the Alamo, but canceled that event.
Paxton painted his opponent as too liberal for Texas,
while also talking up tax relief for residents of the state.
He also made an urgent plea for Republicans to turn out
and keep Texas red.
Texas has never been this close to slipping away.
We have never been this close to losing everything that we hold dear.
Our jobs, our livelihoods, our way of life in Texas.
If Texas falls, we don't have another Texas to move to.
Every poll shows this is going to come down to the wire.
Paxton is set to host an election night party
and watch the results come in
this evening at a gathering in North Texas.
The polls are open from 7 a.m. this morning until 7 p.m.
Reporting live at the Samuel Grand Rec Center,
East Dallas, Dan Godwin on Good Day.
