We're going to cross then to Jerusalem,
talk to our correspondent, Nogatana Polsky,
who joins us from there.
Nogatana, I'll sum all this up for you.
I mean, not good news from Benjamin Netanyahu,
these results, who, of course, has a pretty strong,
but also at the same time,
a pretty fractious relationship at times with Donald Trump.
That's right. A tight bond that's very difficult to understand.
Let's first say that Netanyahu's position
in all of this is deeply mysterious.
He has not been seen in public in Israel
for eight days since Election Day that took place here in Israel.
And he has not reacted in any way
to this surprise announcement by Donald Trump.
The existing accord,
the aid accord between Israel and the United States,
which was signed by President Obama, lasts until December of 2028.
And as I understand it,
it would require a vote in Congress to change that.
So it really is unclear.
What President Trump means, I can tell you,
that here in Israel, both the defense ministry
and the Israel Defense Forces,
in addition to the finance ministry, were caught completely
by surprise by Trump's announcement,
and that since yesterday, in a slow drip, Prime
Minister Netanyahu's ministers
and other allies have tried to spin this as something
Something positive for Israel, that Israel now will not be obliged.
to purchase just American weaponry with this money.
But to be honest with you, it's a fairly thin gruel,
given the fact that Israel does not have many other options
from whom to acquire arms.
Noga, thanks very much.
Noga Tanapolsky, our correspondent, joining us there from Jerusalem.
