Hakeem Jeffries’ Victory Speech! ‘America Is Back’ | Dems Win House | Trump’s Historic Lows | N18G

“America is back!” House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries delivered a triumphant message to supporters as Democrats celebrated their return to control of the US House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections. Addressing an energized crowd on election night, Jeffries described the result as the beginning of a “great American comeback” and positioned the Democratic victory as a rejection of the direction taken by President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans.

The result puts Jeffries in line to become Speaker of the House when the new Congress convenes in January, provided he secures the support of his party. His speech also signals the political battle ahead: Democrats have promised to focus on the cost of living, healthcare and oversight of the Trump administration.

For Trump, the midterms have brought a major political setback. Voter dissatisfaction over the economy, high prices, the Iran war and the direction of the country featured prominently in election coverage. The results raise questions about how much room Trump will have to pursue his domestic agenda with Democrats controlling the House.
