Tracking all things Election Day.
We're also monitoring all the breaking news happening at this hour.
We'll bring you all the live pictures as we get them.
But I do want to bring in Christina Thompson, our press secretary for.
Senate Majority PAC. Now, the reason why Michigan
at the center of a national political spotlight due
to the U.S. Senate race between Democrat Abdul El-Sayed and, of course,
Republican Mike Rogers, drawing a lot of major attention nationwide.
So,
So, Christina, first of all, thank you for joining us.
We appreciate you taking the time on Election Day to be here at Fox.
Yes, thanks for having me. Glad to be with you.
Of course. Now, let's talk about Michigan.
It's such a critical battleground for control
of the Senate. What does this all mean and what could today determine?
Well, I think you said it right.
It absolutely is a critical battleground, and it's one that
Democrats all year have been raising the alarm about
a seat that we need to keep. And the stakes
of this election are, it boils down to one thing.
Who is going to be in the corner of voters and
working people, and who is going to be a rubber stamp
for President Trump? And that is a decision
that is on voters' top of mind today,
and that's something that folks are taking with them into
I want to talk about this race because certainly a lot has
been invested, millions upon millions of dollars.
Talk to me about the money
and why this was so important to really budget it all for this race.
Yeah, so I think that's exactly right.
We put down over $30 million towards retaining this seat,
and that's because we believe that Democrats
are going to be exactly the check on this
administration that people are looking for.
And you have candidates like Dr. Abdul El-Sayed,
who is running on a message that is resonating with voters.
He is talking about costs. He's
talking about affordability,
putting money back in people's pockets. And that is something,
a message that is landing with people,
and it meets the moment exactly where we're at. So
We feel that the energy and the enthusiasm is behind us.
We feel really good about today,
and we're looking forward to seeing the results as they
come in.
Now, Michigan voters have been doing a lot of talking.
A lot of them seem to be worried.
What would you say matters to them most right now?
I would say.
And whether that's in the grocery line or at the gas pump,
it's something that we are
hearing behind the scenes here
when we are talking to voters and focus groups.
It's something that our private data is matching up
with public data, where affordability is
the buzzword of the year for good reason,
because the economy is in the drain.
And that is because of President Trump,
harmful policies that have put Michiganders behind
and having to tighten their belts.
And you have rubber stamps like Mike Rogers,
who is doing exactly nothing to be a check
I didn't check on this president, but it said that he would follow.
So that is why this is such a big year
and why the stakes are so important.
And that is what people are taking
with them heading into the ballot box today.
Yeah, certainly the clock is ticking.
I mean, we have a few hours to go.
What's your biggest concern heading into tonight?
I think the biggest concern, I mean,
we're hearing these monitors popping up at different
election sites and, you know,
this administration has made very clear that they are unwilling
to, you know, have free and fair elections.
And that is something that we've been paying attention to.
And you have people doing good work to make sure
that folks do feel like they can cast
their ballot intimidation free.
But that is something that I know a lot
of voters have raised as a concern of theirs.
And it's absolutely something that we are paying attention to as well.
Christina, we appreciate you for taking the time to join us,
press secretary for Senate Majority PAC, and certainly we'll check
in with you, I'm sure, as we get the numbers and see what happens.
So enjoy your day and good luck.
Thank you. Thanks for having me.
