A horrific moment in Florida when a jet crashes near West Palm Beach,
killing all nine people on board.
And the shocking crash was also caught on camera.
Chinua Herr is in our live center with some of the footage
and what we have learned about that crash so far.
Good morning.
Hey, good morning, guys.
Yeah, we're speaking of that footage.
We're not going to show you the crash in full because it...
is difficult to watch.
So instead, we'll pause it briefly before the impact. And we're talking
about dash cam video showing a private Learjet.
You see they're crashing around 1 p.m. yesterday,
falling straight onto the ground there.
It created that giant fireball on the road.
Nine people were on board. They were all killed.
As of right now, no injuries
on the ground have been reported,
but we do know a mobile home was damaged.
Officials evacuated 600 residents in that area for their own safety.
Right now, the cause is still under investigation.
There is some speculation it could be related to a storm
that the plane passed through before the crash.
The co-pilot could be heard talking about icing
and a rapid descent before the impact.
Now experts say the speeds you just heard
about could have played a role as well.
The NTSB has investigators on site
and are planning to hold a briefing later today.
Was it icing? Was it turbulence?
Was it something mechanical that happened
with the airplane in terms of the flight control system?
We don't know that at this point,
but all things the NTSB will be digging into very closely.
All right, so still lots of questions this morning about that crash.
We do know the plane, though,
is registered out of Wilmington, Delaware,
and was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas.
Officials have not identified the nine victims yet.
Investigators right now are combing through data
to learn what exactly triggered this crash.
The NTSB says a preliminary report will be released within two weeks.
But something that we'll stay on top of, because, guys, that video,
pretty incredible to see that crash.
Thank you, Cheney. Appreciate it.
