We're going to switch states. We're going to head to Melanie.
She is up in Frederick County, Maryland,
as the polls there are also open. Mel?
That's right, guys. Yeah, we came to Frederick County
because it's an interesting demographic.
We know that Democrats statewide outnumber Republicans,
but here in Frederick County,
it's kind of a three-way split with Democrats,
Republicans, and independents. Now,
on the ballot today, very lengthy for Maryland voters.
We know that not only we've got governor,
lieutenant governor, attorney general,
those sorts of things, all eight representatives
in Congress also up for election. We asked some of the first voters in
I'm glad to be voting. I've waited a long time for this.
I'll be 80 years old next year, God's willing,
and I'm just happy to be here, standing right here.
It's important because of my grandchildren.
My grandchildren won't have a future without the votes.
And I was like, what's going on right now in America?
So, you know, my people fought for the right to vote.
And some certain people are trying to take it from us.
And I need to be here to vote for that.
Now the balance of power in Congress not really in play here in Maryland,
at least for this election cycle,
but it could be for future elections
when it comes to ballot question number three.
If approved, that would open the door to partisan redistricting
for congressional elections starting in 2028.
Now, many of the local races focus
on quality of life and fiscal policy.
The data center issue is prominent here in Frederick County,
where Democrat incumbent Jessica Fitzwater is defending
her earlier support of a data center expansion near Adamstown
Before supporting a county...
...countywide pause on new applications.
Her Republican challenger, Jeff Holsinger,
claims she flip-flopped on the issue.
Housing policy, affordability, taxes, school funding,
immigration enforcement also on the minds of voters.
New leadership will be coming to Anne Arundel
and Montgomery counties for the first time in eight years.
Both county executives, Stuart Pittman
and Mark Elrich, were term-limited.
In Montgomery County, Democrat Councilman Will
Jawando facing Republican CPA Esther Wells.
And Anne Arundel County Democrat Councilmember Allison Card is facing...
Republican volunteer firefighter Dave Crawford
and in Prince George's County,
executive Aisha Brave Boy, Democrat, is running unopposed.
And here in Frederick County as well,
immigration policy playing out in this sheriff's race.
Longtime Sheriff Chuck Jenkins is a Trump ally
and a strong proponent of local law enforcement
helping out ICE with their immigration enforcement.
His challenger, a Democrat, certainly against that.
So even though President Trump not on the ballot, many of his policies
These are playing out in these local races.
The doors opened at 7 this morning.
They close at 8 p.m.
