The Dallas Mavericks Have A MASSIVE Decision To Make...
Nov 3, 2026
The Dallas Mavericks have a massive decision to make,
as last night's win over the Chicago Bulls was Brandon Williams'
last game as a two-way player for the Dallas Mavericks.
And over the last month, as the Dallas Mavericks have
been battling with injuries, players in and out of the lineup,
trying not to forfeit any games, Brandon Williams has been one
of the few players to step up in a big way and has led to many wins
and the reason why we're the 9th seed in the West.
But as we are sitting as the ninth seed in the West,
that means we are in the play-in tournament
with a real chance to make it to the playoffs.
And with only a handful of games left,
we will need as many players available as possible
before the playoffs begin.
And Brandon Williams is a player
that the Dallas Mavericks desperately need
as we still don't have Dante Exum
and we'll be out without Kyrie Irving for at least a year.
So this video will be all about Brandon Williams,
his impact for the Dallas Mavericks,
how good has he been playing lately,
and what we can do to make sure he's on this team
for the long term.
How's it going everybody? My name is Marcel Martin.
This is Mavericks Digest bringing you
the latest news on everything Mavericks related.
And before we get started with today's video,
we're currently sitting at 20,080 subscribers.
Just want to say thank you guys so much for all the support.
I'm definitely feeling the love.

But as it's been obvious by now, the two-way guys on the Dallas
Mavericks roster has stepped up in a big way over the last month, month
and a half as injuries just continue to plague the Dallas Mavericks.
It's a fact of life now. Guys go out there, someone's bound
to get hurt, but there's always someone else to step up in a big way.
And we've seen players like Kessler Edwards,
who's rode the bench for the majority of the season,
have to play out of position as a center,
as a 6'8 center for the Dallas Mavericks.
And he's already played all of his games.
Hopefully he'll be back later down the road.
But Kessler Edwards was huge for the Dallas Mavericks
in no way, shape, or form.
Was he one of the best centers in the league?
Like I said, he was undersized.
But for what we needed, he was able to do that for us.
We also signed Kai Jones,
as we are still dealing with injuries to our big men.
And Kai Jones has been instant impact.
He did have a...
Pretty scary fall the other day, but he came back in last night's game
against the Chicago Bulls, showing us exactly who the Bahamian Beast is
and why he needs to be in Dallas.
But there's another two-way player
that has been with the Dallas Mavericks
for some time now, that's been training with Kyrie Irving,
who is showing us flashes of greatness at his young age,
and that player is Brandon Williams, and he is winning everybody,
just showing everybody exactly who he is, who he can be,
and why the Dallas Mavericks need to invest in a player like this.
He's currently on a two-way contract.
He did just play his last game.
But there is a way to get Brandon Williams before we go
into the playoffs, and hopefully
over the summer, Nico Harrison does the right thing
and bring Brandon Williams back on a
guaranteed contract.
But I'm not the only one that's this high on Brandon Williams.
A lot of people also see exactly what I'm seeing.
If we take a look right here.
Here
MFFL Nation tweeted out saying tonight will
be Brandon Williams' last game with the Dallas
Mavericks as a two-way contract player this season.
The Mavs could sign him to a standard NBA contract
on April 10th, but it's yet to be
determined if they will.
MFFLs, love you, be well.
And we definitely do.
we
Like I said, there is a way to bring
back Brandon Williams on April 10th.
We will be able to convert him to a standard NBA contract.
And then on April 12th, we could actually sign
go.
a second two-way player, which would
be either Kessler Edwards or Kai Jones, to a second standard contract.
But like I said, everyone's feeling the love.
I mean, everyone knows how great Brandon Williams is.
If we take a look at Mavs Day in 41, he tweeted out saying,
Brandon Williams deserves a contract.
Point blank period, point blank period, straight to the point.
It's an obvious fact.
He definitely deserves a contract.
Brandon Williams, like I said,
he's been studying under Kyrie Irving for at least two seasons now.
And you see that type of flash when he's on the court,
the way that he can attack the rim as a undersized guard,
the way that he defends very well.
He's a very underrated defender.
And I've always thought that Kyrie Irving was a good defender, too.
But when you're a smaller guard, it is harder to tell how good
at defense you are when you're typically up against players
that are taller than you or bigger than you.
But Brandon Williams doesn't back down.
He's got a lot of dog in him.
It doesn't matter who he switched on or who he has to defend.
He does it at a very high efficiency.
Brandon Williams is essentially exactly what
the Dallas Mavericks need for the foreseeable future.
Like I said, with no Kyrie Irving
for at least a year with his ACL tear,
Dante Exum could return in the next two to three weeks.
But honestly, with all the injuries to Dante Exum,
he may not be on the team long term.
I know he's a great player, a great defender,
someone that fits the Dallas Mavericks mold exactly.
But with those injuries, we're going to need someone who is available.
I think that I can speak for all Mavericks fans
that we are tired of injuries.
After this season, we don't want injured players,
unless your name is Kyrie Irving, of course.
So if Brandon Williams can show that he can stay healthy and he
can still play at a high level no matter how many minutes he gets,
I can see Brandon Williams replacing Dante Exum as our backup guard,
maybe even passing up Spencer Dinwiddie down the road.
But like I said, everyone is showing love to Brandon Williams.
Shout out to Brittany Cohn on Twitter.
She also said, I want Brandon Williams
to be a Mav next season so badly.
Again, just echoing the sentiments of all Mavs fans.
It's not only the fact that he's playing very well.
It's the fact that he gets along very well with the team.
He knows exactly what it means to be a Maverick.
He knows that when his number is called, he's a professional.
He goes out there, gives it his all.
He shoots the three ball very well.
He's able to attack the basket, able to defend.
He's able to play make.
I really do enjoy seeing Brandon Williams bring the ball down the court
versus someone like P.J. Washington, who has the handles of a unicycle.
They're just non-existent.
But Brandon Williams will be a huge factor
for the Dallas Mavericks if we go into the playoffs.
Right now, we are the ninth seed.
We will make the play-in tournament if we finish as the ninth seed.
We will need him if we somehow win the play-in tournament
and finish as the eighth seed.
For the playoffs, we will obviously have
to see the Oklahoma City Thunder
in the first round, and we will need ball handlers.
Our bigs are coming back.
Daniel Gafford and Derek Lively will return in the upcoming weeks,
so we need our guards.
We have all the size.
We have the defense.
We need the playmakers.
We need the ball handlers, the floor generals.
We have Spencer.
We got Najee, but we definitely need another one like Brandon Williams,
and time and time again, he has shown us
that he is exactly what we need.
And we just take a look right here.
Over his last several games, like I said,
he's shown us exactly who he is.
In that Pistons game, yeah, 7 points, 2 of 9, 0 of 2.
Wasn't a good shooting night.
He still had 3 rebounds and 5 assists.
But like I said, his defense, he had 2 steals that game.
He's averaged at least 1 steal every game over the last 5 games.
Well, he had 2 steals, 1 steals, 2, 2, and 1.
Brandon Williams' defense is very underrated.
I feel like no one's really talking about that.
But also the scoring.
After that Pistons game, he had 15, 22, 14.
He had 12 last night.
He was 3 for 8, which I'm fine with.
He was 0-1 from 3, but he also had one rebound,
three assists, and one steal.
He's still able to make things happen,
and again, he is a two-way player.
He doesn't have a guaranteed contract.
He's not a top player in the NBA.
He's a guy that was riding the bench for the majority of the season.
But for those that know, know that Brandon Williams has
been a monster over in the G League,
and it only makes sense that we called him up
and we made sure to give him the right minutes
and the right opportunity to show us
what he can do for the Dallas Mavericks.
And with performances like this, he definitely deserves a spot.
If we just take a look right here, over the next several games,
we will be without Brandon Williams.
Like I said, last night against the Bulls
was his last game for the Dallas Mavericks
for the foreseeable future right now.
But in the upcoming games against the Nets, the Hawks, the Clippers,
the Clippers again, and then the Los Angeles Lakers
will all be played without Brandon Williams.
If the Mavericks want to bring back Brandon Williams,
we can convert him to an actual NBA contract.
on April 10th, so he could return forwards against the Toronto Raptors,
as well as the Memphis Grizzlies,
and I have a good feeling that he will be back for those games,
it just wouldn't make sense not to bring someone like that back,
that's been playing well above his contract, playing well above his own
Who he is, Brandon Williams,
isn't a household name to people outside the Mavericks fan base.
He's not someone that everyone's talking about,
but he's playing a lot better than other guys
on this roster, and I think that he definitely deserves a contract.
Like I said, the future looks very weird for our guards,
for the Dallas Mavericks.
Obviously, we have Brandon Williams.
We got Jaylen Hardy, who did look good in that Orlando Magic game.
He was one of the main reasons why we won that game.
I'll always give Hardy his props.
However, a lot of people have been saying
that Jaden Hardy might be a Jaden Hardaway Jr.
as he's very inconsistent.
Sometimes he's hot, sometimes he's not.
The defense really isn't there.
The IQ sometimes just disappears.
But it seems like Brandon Williams has a lot more consistency.
He's more reliable.
Like I said, Dante Exum is injured.
Spencer is Spencer.
So Brandon Williams could be the future guard for the Mavericks,
or at least the future backup guard.
And that's something that I definitely want to see.
And just continue with what we have here.
The Dallas Mavericks are currently the 9th seed, like I said.
We're about five games behind the Timberwolves.
There's obviously no way we could
definitely take the 8th seed from them.
Unless we win every game, they lose every game.
Even then, I'm still not sure if we could take them.
It stands to reason that we may finish as the 9th,
maybe slip down to the 10th.
I don't think we're going to slide any further than the 10th seed.
So, as of right now, we are in the playing picture.
We'll have to win two games to make it to the 8th seed in the playoffs.
And then we've got to see the Thunder.
We have the size.
We have AD.
We've got Kai Jones.
We've got PJ.
Gafford and Lively will return.
We have the size.
It's the guards.
We need Brandon Williams.
I mean, we've got Najee.
We've got Spencer.
That's great.
We definitely need Brandon Williams to come back
if we're going to be in the playoffs.
I know a lot of people want to see us tank,
although I'd argue there's more people that
want to see us succeed and just fight
and go up there and show us what we got.
But we can't do that without a full roster of players that can help us.
And Brandon Williams is definitely that player.
But let me know in the comment section down below.
Do you think Brandon Williams deserves an NBA contract?
Do you think that he needs to come back
and be that guy for us at that guard position?
