It's not just the governor's race that people
will be watching closely tomorrow.
The balance of power in Washington is on the line.
All right, Fox 5's Sharon Crowley here now with a look at the races
that could ultimately decide which party has control of Congress.
And there are a lot of states we're talking about today.
So on the eve of the midterm elections, as we said,
with the balance of power at stake in Congress,
President Trump and the candidates in key swing states
are making final pitches to voters.
Some of these states, President Trump won handily in 2024.
Are now leaning toward Democrats.
His agenda for the next two years is now on the line.
He continued his campaign blitz today
at the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool in D.C.
As you know, this is the last day before the midterm elections,
the most important midterm, I believe, in our lifetime.
The Democrat Party has nominated the most extreme
and dangerous slate of candidates in American history.
Well, early voting numbers have been surging here
and around the country,
outpacing turnout in the last midterms in 2022.
Historically, the party in power
tends to lose ground in the mid-cycle elections.
Polls show that Democrats
...are poised to take control of the House, but the Senate
is still a toss-up with the focus on states that include Texas,
South Carolina, Ohio, Maine, Mississippi, Iowa, Kansas, and Alaska.
If the Senate is so close, it's a 50-50 outcome.
Republicans would maintain control of that chamber,
as Vice President Vance would be the tiebreaker.
I spoke with several political analysts
from both parties about what we can expect tomorrow night.
I think that there'll be some deals to be had there.
I think there'll be real oversight.
I think the nation is demanding real oversight in this election.
I think that's what you're going to get.
I think that some of his cabinet members
should probably pack up their bags tonight.
And be ready to leave because I don't think they're going
to make it to the new Congress.
We could see dealmaking happening.
The president has things that he wants to accomplish. He knows
he needs budgets to make that happen.
So both sides have a strong interest in trying to make
sure that there are budgets submitted
in a timely way that prevents a government shutdown.
But everything's going to be about 2028
and presidential election and setting up the
contours of what that campaign looks like. I would expect
If the Senate stays Republican,
that the most important things they're going to do this year
is that one, maybe even two Supreme Court justices.
And of course, it will be just a
stop to any weird impeachment that the House attempts.
Well, poll after poll showing that voters across
the board are concerned about the economy,
everything from groceries to gas prices and the ongoing war in Iran.
If Democrats do do well tomorrow,
most political analysts that I talk with tell me
it will be because it is a referendum
on President Trump's first two years in his
second term in office.
It's why Republicans are working equally as hard to try to hold
on to the Senate tonight. All right, Sharon, thank you so much.
