The investigation now going to focus on this awful,
haunting air traffic control audio.
Clearance 3702, we have a doctor.
722 Bravo Delta, we're descending 8,000.
Mayday, mayday, we're descending 10,000 feet per minute.
And in that audio, you can hear
the pilot describing ice accumulation on the aircraft
and even turbulence in the moments before
this fiery crash that killed all nine people on board.
The FAA saying this is a Learjet 60 aircraft
that was traveling from Texas to Bahamas
when it went down in Palm Beach County in South Florida,
narrowly missing not only the people
who were on the ground there watching the aftermath of this,
but the cars driving by. It is right off the side of the road.
We came out, all the neighbors were outside
already, and it was just a really...
Really loud noise, like the police was just pulling up
and we've seen the crater and the
crater was just so deep. It had like water in it.
We didn't know what to think it was.
There was a lot of confusion,
people right up to that fiery crater until they realized,
oh, this is very dangerous. This was a fatal
plane crash. And then the roads were closed
to keep people back. That air traffic control traffic
in which the pilot is describing
ice building up on the aircraft,
if that was the cause here, and we don't know,
No, but if that was an issue, that essentially...
Renders those wings unable to maintain lift
and it will be a key focus for investigators.
They'll be focusing on that. They're looking
for the flight data recorder. It's unclear whether
that's been located or if it even survived that crash,
if it was destroyed and if they
can even glean anything from it if they do find it.
