Two of our officers were struck during the gunfire exchange.
They were both transported to the hospital.
Thank you for joining us for Fox 5 News at 10.
I'm Christopher King, in for Eric Perry.
We do want to tell you both of those officers
are now in stable condition.
All of this playing out over the last few hours.
Fox 5's Hernan Gutierrez has been following this since it happened.
Hernan, we just saw police at a press conference a little while ago.
Tell us what's going on out there.
Hey, Christopher, where police are telling us
that this all started as some kind of domestic
incident at about six thirty this evening.
They also identified the suspect in this shooting
as 26 year old Devontarius Soho.
He was also shot, but he is also considered
to be in stable condition at the hospital.
Police say that this happened.
At the 2000 block of Boulder Crest Road,
according to DeKalb County Police Chief Greg Padrick,
Soho shot at officers
when they first arrived at the door to that domestic call.
Police say that at least one officer shot back.
Soho ran away into the woods,
but officials report they were able to quickly identify
him as the suspect because of the camera systems already in that area.
I'd like to thank all of our partners, local, state, and federal,
who responded and helped us bring this person into custody very quickly
and get this dangerous person off the streets.
We would like to ask for your thoughts
and prayers for our officers as they recover.
Police didn't realize Soho was also shot until he was in custody.
The police chief did not identify any of the officers involved.
Now, police didn't take any questions after they spoke
with reporters just a few minutes ago.
So it's not entirely clear what led up
to this initial domestic incident that they
were first responding to or what it was even at that point.
In DeKalb County, Hernando Diaz, Fox 5 News.
Hernan, thank you very much.
