Sara Maude-Dupuis leads Canadian field at Skate Canada International after short program

21 years old, now armed with a triple axel. You will not see that in this short program. It'll come into the free. She has a chance. Should she skate clean and put the pressure on others starting early in the short program? 66.23 is her best short program score, earning that last season. And it's a fun program. It suits her so well. She'll skate to Ray of Light by Madonna. She's been able to compete many, many times in her life and this is by far the best I've seen her do an overall performance. I have never seen her have so much fun in a program and therefore we did as well. That was awesome. That was amazing. Former coach Stefan, let's take a look at some of the elements. Caitlin. Well here's a look at triple toe triple toe that opened the program. Doesn't have as much momentum on that element as some of the others but very well controlled. I love this double axel. Of course she has the triple so she has the confidence on that element but the look of sass afterwards was amazing. And here the triple lutz at the end of the program I was a little bit nervous with her going into it because it has caused her issues in the past but she went in with so much more attack than I've seen her. have ever in her skating and didn't hold back at all and the spins have really improved. Sometimes the positions have not been the cleanest and here they are really improving and you can see the flexibility getting stronger. I think she is so much more confident in herself right now having landed that triple axel now having it to somewhat not always but under control that elevates her technical ability. And she's having fun. She is having fun and she's competed four times already this season between domestic competitions and internationals. And she says she just wanted to do it to build her confidence and hopefully gain momentum for the season. Well, let's take a look at this short program score for Sarah Mode. 64.58. She's happy with that. And that will put Sarah Mode for the moment at least in the second place. Thrilled with the skate, and so she should be. 64.58. She has the triple ax. We'll see that in the free program.
