A cross-country storm system is going to move out
of the Rockies at the end of the weekend
and will move into the central plains,
potentially bringing the threat for severe weather across
parts of Texas and Oklahoma.
Here's our upper-level pattern for Monday.
See our trough dipping down here on our map.
Our low is going to ride along it as they often do.
Its associated cold front could bring the threat
for severe weather across the southern
plains.
Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Dallas, you are all in the bullseye here.
There's a couple of factors I want to break down
for why we're talking about this storm system.
One, let's talk about the CAPE, Instability of the Atmosphere.
Think about here one is the heating of the day
that brings the instability but we also have to
think about dew points. We have a clashing air mass situation here.
This is very classic for
severe weather. You can see very obviously
on this map there is a very clear divide where there is
dry air and warm moist air on this map.
When you have these air masses clashing
that brings that threat
of severe weather right along its boundary like this.
Now, the threat of severe might not be strong the rest of the week,
but this storm system will have
its hand across the rest of the country.
It's going to continue to shift across for days,
all the way potentially to the northeast for Friday.
