Deja from Knit and Crochet Ever After demonstrates how to create the Eve Scarf, an infinity scarf featuring an open-weave chevron pattern. The video provides a tutorial on the specific stitch repeats and discusses the materials used, while promoting a limited-time free pattern offer for her community.
Hey everyone, it's Deja with Knit and Crochet Ever After
and today we are working on this Eve scarf.
So, if you don't know and you're new to this channel, I am Deja.
I am the designer behind KnitAndCrochetEverAfter.com,
I do knit and crochet patterns, and I've started
something new.
I normally have certain patterns that I release
as free patterns on YouTube, and then I have
other patterns that are paid patterns that get released to Etsy,
Ravelry, and everywhere
Where else did I sell patterns?
Now, I'm trying to give back in the year of 2022,
to give back to the people that support
me, that follow me on my blog, Instagram, here,
wherever it may be, and I've been releasing
some of my paid patterns as a limited time free pattern.
So this is one of those.
This is normally a paid pattern in my shop.
But for a limited time, it is free.
So hopefully you've gotten here during the free period.
If you have not, be sure to subscribe
and hit the notification bell
so that when I release more of these,
because I will, you will have notice right away.
Get it downloaded so that you have it during the free period.
So how will you know if it's still free?
You'll see a link in the description that says
free pattern download
and it'll lead you to where you go download it. If you see a
link for Etsy or Ravelry, you've missed it.
It's now a paid pattern, but you can still
support me and support me making more
of these videos by purchasing the pattern.
This video will stay up no matter what
because I will walk you through a pattern repeat in
this video as a tutorial.
So it doesn't give you like specific information in the pattern,
you gotta download the pattern
for that, but it's gonna walk you through
the stitch pattern that you see.
So let me give this, this is not showing its best light.
You have to see this kind of, it's an infinity scarf.
So let's, all that aside, let's talk about the pattern now.
This is the Eve Scarf, Infinity Scarf,
and you can see that it has this open weave chevron,
and I love, so it's more,
you can see more of the colors when it's kind of dense, so
you can see the color shifting on the chevron.
This is Lion Brand Ferris Wheel, and I'm really liking this yarn.
It's got really good color changes.
This one is Imaginary Garden and I used...
About two, they come in kind of cakes,
so I used two cakes, they're 270 yards each,
so about 500 yards for the scarf, so it is like really, really wide.
And really, really long,
so it can just wrap around you a whole lot, so I love that.
Another great feature is, like, this raised kind of cable look to it.
Let me get a little closer here so you can see that.
So you can see these little raised lines in the chevron as well,
so I love that little extra detail.
And the back side's pretty cool looking, too,
so even though it's an infinity scarf, like, it can be, you know,
when you're wearing it, if the back shows,
it's not where it's one of those where you're just like,
I don't want the back to show
so it's not it's not it's not terrible I don't think so we
use a 4.5 millimeter needle
with this I use circulars just keep all my stitches from dropping
you can use straight needles it'll fit you know there's it's
not wide enough where you
can't scrunch your stitches on there
so whichever you prefer head to the description see if
you've got the free pattern download download it
if you do immediately before I take it off if you don't
Consider purchasing the pattern if you really like how this is looking
because it's a really nice comfy scarf and we'll start
talking about the pattern repeat.
Okay, so for the first row of our repeat
we're going to begin with a knit one and then our repeat begins.
I'm going to move this cable out of the way.
So we're going to do a yarn over and then an SSK
Yarn over, SSK, yarn over, SSK, yarn over, SSK, so yarn over,
we're going to slip as if to knit, slip as if to knit,
put our needle through, then we're kind of knitting through
the back loop is basically what we're doing.
That creates a left-leaning decrease.
We're going to do that one last time for a total of three,
so yarn over, slip, slip, then knit.
Then we're going to yarn over one more time.
We're now at our center post. Going to do a double
decrease by slipping two at the same time knit-wise.
We're going to knit our next stitch
and then we're going to take those two we just slipped
and bring them over that stitch we just knitted
Then we're going to do our right leaning decreases
on the other side of that center
post. So we're going to yarn over and we're going to knit two together.
We're going to do that three
times. It's our first one. Then we're going to yarn over,
knit two together again, and then yarn over
and knit two together for a third time.
Split my yarn a little bit. Let me start that one over.
And then our very last stitch is going to be a yarn over
and then a knit one and then our repeat begins over again.
So we're just going to do that yarn over slip slip three
times
and then yarn over
one last time.
So kind of yarn overs on each side of those slip slips,
then we're going to do our double decrease.
You can always look for that center post.
It should be that second stitch of your double decrease.
We're going to slip both of those, knit one,
slip those two back over,
and that creates that center post just running right on up.
Then we're going to yarn over,
knit two together,
yarn over,
knit two together,
yarn over,
Knit two together.
Total three and then you yarn over and a knit then we just
complete we keep doing that until you complete the row and then we
Begin our second row of our repeat. Once you finish that first row,
you're now on the wrong side of the work
You can tell the difference
That's why we're making it an infinity scarf
so that that is hidden more often than not and then we are going to do
Purls, so we're just gonna purl all the way across
nice and simple
Both this one and the fourth row are just purling, so not too bad.
Then we'll come back for our third
row of the repeat and be done with this.
So just remember your fourth row is going to be
to be pearls too because I don't think I need
to show you those again on the fourth row.
We'll just talk about it after our third row.
Okay, we're ready for our third
and final row that we really got to kind of pay attention to
of our four row repeat because remember that row four is all purls.
So we're going to begin with the knit one just like the first row,
and then it's kind of similar, a little different.
So we're going to begin our repeat.
Repeat, we're going to do one more knit.
Then we're going to yarn over and we're going to slip slip knit
again. We're going to do that twice
instead of three times. We're going to
yarn over, slip slip knit, and then we're going to
bookmark that on the end with another yarn over.
Then we're going to knit one. Then we're here at our center post again.
So we're doing the same double decrease. We're slipping
two knitwise. We're going to knit one and then
Pass those two back over.
We just did a knit on that side,
we're going to do a knit on the other side.
Then we're going to yarn over and knit two together twice,
just like we did two slip
slip knits together.
Yarn over, knit two together, and then yarn over to finish that off.
And then we're going to just knit three, which are our final stitches.
So those two are the final of the repeat,
and then we start our repeat over again.
So we start with the knit one.
Yarn over, slip, slip, knit once, then
we yarn over and slip, slip, knit twice.
Yarn over, knit one, back to our center.
So that's how you can kind of keep track
if you miss any yarn overs or anything.
You're looking for that center post as your second stitch
when you're coming for this
double decrease.
If it's not there, you missed something,
so go unknit for a row and you'll usually find
And where you missed it.
So you kind of got to pay attention good when you're doing this,
just to make sure that you
are on the right row and that you're not missing any
of these yarn overs. So we knit, we do our
double decrease, knit one, and we yarn over,
knit two together, yarn over, knit two together,
Yarn over, knit two
and then we finish that repeat off to the end of the row.
Then we're going to do a row four of purls again
and you're just repeating those four
over and over again. Follow the pattern as it states
and then finish off how it says and join
and you will be set. We'll come back, oops sorry,
we will come back and do some final thoughts.
Okay so once you finish that pattern you may want to block
This yarn, it did not need it, it's in
It would give me more length probably if I did block it.
It's pretty stretchy.
It's pretty drapey.
So it kind of, this is how it came off the needles.
I did not block it at all.
And you can see how well this yarn held up.
So I really like this Lion Brand Ferris wheel.
I'm going to be using this again in the future.
And it's really reasonably priced too.
So I have links in the description to it.
It's really not that bad for like it's, and it's,
I don't even know what it's made of. Hold on.
Let me tell you, I have some here.
Let's see what's
in the package here.
This is...
is...
I can't read it. I've got to get the poster off.
Me and my blindness.
Oh, these are such small, small little letters.
Um, it's 100% acrylic.
Like it's, and it, it's, it kind of has like a wool feel to it.
Like a, it doesn't have that kind of like...
You know with acrylic you feel acrylic
and you're like yeah that's acrylic this does not feel
totally like acrylic and what's funny because I remember
when I'm needing to frog this it does
stick a little like wool every once in a while I'll get
a stitch that kind of sticks not terribly
but it does stick a little bit
so that's kind of an interesting thing when it's acrylic but
I that means machine washable, so I love it even more.
So definitely check out the Ferris wheel.
But that is the pattern.
That's the repeat.
Go check it out.
Make sure you subscribe like if you like
these so that I can make more of them
and hit the notification bell
so that you don't miss out on any more free patterns.
So I am Deja with Knit and Crochet Ever After
and thank you for watching.
