Okay, to make the Simplicity shawl,
we are going to be using Karen Cloud Perfect Fazing
yarn, and it's the softest, prettiest colorway,
I love this, it's so pretty.
This is Lagoon, so I'll put a link to this if you'd like that,
but it's so soft and it's
kind of like a fluffy side of it, so it's so, so pretty.
Then with the yarn,
we are going to be using a 5mm US H to do the pattern and that's about
all you need besides a yarn needle to weave in ends and scissors.
But you can get the pattern
down below and we're going to get started.
But first, be sure to hit the like, subscribe,
and notification bell so you never miss out
when I release free patterns. So let's get going.
Okay, to begin the Simplicity Shawl, what we're going to do is work
in a magic adjustable loop, so my easy way is to take my yarn
in my left hand, with the tail pointing down, and just pull through.
So, you're going to reach through and pull up a loop,
and then we're going to chain four,
so I'm holding on to my magic adjustable loop while I do this,
then I'm going to treble inside the magical loop.
So I'm going to, I just call it a magical loop,
a magic adjustable loop.
So I'm going to go two, then we're going to chain three,
and that chain four counted as a treble.
So we're going to do two trebles inside the loop.
Done.
Oh,
soft.
There's row one. Nice and easy.
So we're going to pull our tail closed,
and that's the top of the point, technically,
this way, because we're going to work that away.
So this is row one, let's get on row two.
Okay so we're going to turn our work
and now what we're going to do is what's called a tall chain.
So a tall chain is going to take the place
of a chain four that acts as a treble crochet. So we're
going to bring it up as tall as a treble
and lock it in with the chain. That's going to be
kind of what brings this up to height
but we're not going to count it as a stitch. So what we're
going to do is we're going to treble
in that same stitch that we just came out of here.
Because that tall chain did not count as a stitch
and then we're going to treble two times in our next stitch.
So this yarn is very fuzzy. So if you are new to crochet,
it can be difficult to see the yarn when it's fuzzy.
So maybe pick something different or
just you know, it'll it'll teach you how to
Work with fuzzy yarn, so up to you.
Just note that if you're thinking about getting this yarn
but are brand new, it will be a little difficult to see your stitches.
Okay, so I've got my two trebles.
So next, in this chain three space around it,
we're going to do a combination of stitches. We're going
to do a treble, we're going to chain three again,
just like the last row, and just treble one more time.
All right, almost done with this row.
We've got three more stitches in these next two stitches,
so we're going to reverse what we just did at the beginning here.
So we're going to do two trebles
in our next stitch, and then the very last stitch
which was our chain four, so we're working the
top of that chain four, we're going to do one last treble.
So I'd like to turn it kind of to face me
so I can get behind that kind of bottom bump
and back loop so it doesn't pull it too tight.
So that's the only time we're doing a chain,
the rest are these tall chains which we don't
work into and don't count as a stitch,
but it keeps it from being very sparse.
So like here with this chain you can see there's kind
of a big gap between because that chain
is kind of puny compared to the treble,
on this side we don't have that gap because we
actually did a treble
and we have just this tall chain that kind of blends in with it,
so as you go you'll see how that blends.
Now row three is going to be our
So on row three,
this is what you're going to do for pretty much the body of the shawl
until we get to the finishing edge.
So this is what you will repeat over and over again.
It's just adding extra trebles as you go.
So what you're going to do is you're going to tall chain.
You're going to treble in that same stitch as your tall chain,
so the very first stitch.
Then we're going to treble two times
in the next stitch.
So this is the same every row.
We're doing our increases one stitch in just to not make them
as noticeable. If you did them right
on the edge it makes them kind of more noticeable. So we're
going to have one treble and then an increase in the next stitch.
We're going to treble until we
get to our chain three spot.
So every row this is going to increase by one. Right now we have
two to get there so we're going to do one treble
in each of the next two stitches.
This is a great project to just binge watch TV.
I can't get over how soft this yarn is.
All right, now we're on our chain three
and we're going to do exactly what we did the row below.
We're going to do a treble, chain three, treble.
One treble around the chain three,
chain three, and then one more treble
in that chain three spot.
Then we're going to do the opposite of what we did on this side.
So we're going to do
Trebles until we get to the last two stitches.
Remember don't count your tall chains until you get here.
Then you'll increase and do one treble. So for this row we're doing
one
or one in each of the next two stitches. So one treble,
another treble, then we're going to increase
because we're at our last two,
and then one last treble in the very
last stitch. Which is nice because now you have
a stitch to work into instead of the turning chain.
So now you have the repeat and you're going to continue on
the amount of rows that it states in the pattern.
So again you'll turn your work
tall chain, you'll do a treble in your first stitch,
two trebles in the stitch after,
and then you'll treble all the way until you get
to your chain three.
Put a treble, chain three, treble,
then treble across to the last two, where you do an increase,
and then a treble. So you'll keep on going until
the pattern tells you to stop, and then we come
back for the finishing edge.
So continue on with this, and I'll see you in a little bit.
Okay, I've finished off the shawl.
I think it is adorable with this yarn, it's such a pretty
gradient. So because this one is a self-striping yarn,
I'm not going to put the ruffle edge
on it. The optional ruffle edging you'll see in the pattern page
so that you can decide
If you want to add that for this.
I think it's just pretty as is, I don't think it needs anything extra.
You could maybe add some tassels though,
maybe at the bottom, that might be cute, and all
the points, the three points, that could be very cute.
Different ideas, but I would love to see what you make,
so make sure that you tag me when
you make this.
The socials are down in the description,
I would love to see what you come up with.
But until next time, I am Deja with Knit
