How to make delicious meat stew. Zharkoe is a traditional Russian meat and potatoes stew. It’s a hearty dish, perfect for a cold day. It is quite similar to goulash. You can use any meat that you prefer for Zharkoe – e.g. beef, pork, lamb, chicken. This is another - One Dish Meal, that I think many will Enjoy! As with many recipes, I like to start the browning process on the skillet: it creates a crust that seals in the moisture and adds more flavor. I prefer to cut my veggies into bite size pieces. It's a personal preference, of course. But to me it looks more refined, like someone took a great care to slice them just right.

Hi guys, welcome to my channel.
Today I'm making a very traditional Russian dish. It's called zharkoye.
Basically what it means is meat stew. And I'm using pork.
Now if you don't like pork you can use beef instead.
And it's really really easy and it takes literally no time to make it.
So all we're going to be needing is 200 grams of gammon or pork.
You can use smoked or unsmoked depending on your preferences.
I've got 4 medium potatoes, 1 carrot, 1 onion, salt and pepper.
So before we start cooking, let's prepare all the vegetables.
So I've chopped my onion, my carrots, my potatoes into little cubes,
and I've put my meat into stripes.
We're going to fry the meat in a separate pan,
and then we're going to add it back into the vegetables.
First we fry our vegetables.
In a separate pan,
like I said before, we're
going to fry our gammon.
Just drop the pieces in.
So my gammon is cooked now.
Now all I'm going to do is add it back into the pan.
I've cooked it for a couple of minutes
and I've got my baking dish prepared.
I've applied some olive oil on top and we're going to put that in.
I've preheated my oven to 180 degrees as well.
So we just give that a mix.
You can see the potatoes browned a little bit and got,
you know, a bit of a colour.
It's going to make them very crispy.
Now I'm just transferring it into our baking dish.
If you've got a crock pot dish or stewing dish,
you can use that as well.
I don't have any, but that should be fine.
And we're just going to have to cover it with some foil
and leave it in the oven for 40 minutes.
Here, my meat stew is done.
It smells absolutely delicious in the house.
Now, when we open it up, oh, look at that.
It looks amazing.
You can test if it's ready by just poking through the potato.
If it breaks up, that's done.
Yum.
So now I'm just going to serve this on a dish.
Okay, I've just plated it up.
It looks absolutely amazing.
I've decorated with some tomatoes and parsley.
I've got some fresh bread.
Now it's optional, but it's not much nicer, you know, how it looks.
I really can't wait to try this.
As you can see, the dish looks so colourful.
You've got carrots, potatoes, onions.
It's so hot, but I'm going to try it now.
It's delicious.
Oh my God, this is so good.
Vegetables are so soft.
It just melts in your mouth, the meat's crunchy,
you're gonna love this dish, I can guarantee
you.
