A follow-up tonight as the attorney for Jane Doe, the woman who claims
she was raped at a Cornell University fraternity, is speaking up.
The attorney says his client isn't going away
and that she will continue to cooperate with prosecutors.
As Fox News' Brian Yenna shows us,
the attorney is also doubling down on accusations of a cover-up.
I think there was a cover up.
I think there was a desire to protect the institution.
Thomas Giffra represents Jane Doe,
the woman who claims she was raped and drugged
by seven fraternity brothers at Cornell in 2024.
Giffra says the university led an effort
to sweep the case under the rug.
I think that went forward with up in Tompkins County because look,
it's the single biggest employer. In response,
Cornell says the university took the incident very seriously.
Jane Doe is suing the university, the fraternity, and the seven men.
Giffra says a financial settlement alone won't make it go away.
No, it's gonna come with strings,
cuz her goal is also to make a change. Her goal
is to make sure that going forward, there are no more Jane Doe's.
It's not just about money,
it's about change at that institution.
And he insists Jane Doe will not stop
cooperating in a criminal investigation. No.
No, they need to be accountable.
They need to be accountable.
These boys raped her and they should be accountable under the law.
The men deny the allegations.
A judge recently ruled Jane Doe can remain anonymous,
but Giffra has no regrets including
the names of the accused men in court documents.
So you have no concern about the fact
that their names are out there before all of this
has been adjudicated? No, because I think they did what they did.
They're going to get their
Ivy League degree. She's not getting
her Ivy League degree. That's not right.
New York Attorney General Letitia James
is leading an independent criminal probe
as Giffra denies claims he's been leaking evidence to the press.
So who is leaking this?
I have no idea, but I know it's not me.
Governor Hochul has now put state police in charge
of investigating sex assault reports at Cornell.
A judge is set to rule any day on whether
A.G. James stays on the case as special prosecutor
after she's been accused of bias for posting support
for Jane Doe on social media in New York.
