Dallas police are searching for a suspect after
a home break-in attempt in East Dallas was caught on camera.
It happened just after 1.30 a.m. at a home
in the Lake Highlands neighborhood.
That suspect was captured on camera, repeatedly kicking the front door,
shattered the glass, leaving blood behind.
And this may not have been the first time.
Fox Sports' Amelia Jones spoke with residents
and has details on the investigation.
Amelia.
Heather, Heather and Steve, people in this Lake Highlands neighborhood
are on edge after multiple late night break-in attempts.
When the homeowner, Jeff Jones, posted the video online,
he found out he's not the only neighbor
who's experienced this by possibly the same man
who Dallas police say they're still looking for tonight.
This is the first time we've ever dealt with anything aggressive.
So yeah, it's scary. While Jeff Jones
and his family were fast asleep inside their Lake
Highlands home around 1.20 a.m. on Friday,
a man was caught on video ringing their doorbell
multiple times. The full clip is three minutes.
When no one comes to the door,
things escalate. The man leaves, then comes back to do more damage.
Donkey kick our door and break our glass and get blood everywhere.
I mean, it was just kind of a
traumatizing event. Jones didn't wake up to any noises,
but his son did. Around 6.30 AM, he saw the call and text from his son,
watched the security footage and called Dallas police.
Police confirmed they are investigating the incident
and even located a suspect
who matched the description,
but determined it was not the person responsible.
Jones posted the video online and found out he wasn't alone.
Then once we put everything on Nextdoor,
we found out that all these neighbors had been chiming in like,
oh, he did this, you know, six months ago.
And, oh, same guy hit our house. I mean, he's been doing it for years.
Another neighbor a few streets over had a similar experience around 1
a.m. Friday, and he believes it was the same man.
He spoke with us off camera, telling us the man banged on the door,
kicked it, and the homeowner yelled at him to go away.
This neighbor called police immediately after,
but no one showed up until 7 AM.
Very concerning. I mean,
we've loved this neighborhood. We've lived here for
Gosh, 20, you know, 23, 24 years, so it makes you a little nervous.
It seems like it's happening maybe
a little more often than it did 10 years ago.
Jones says they plan to put up fencing to increase safety at the house.
The man also has a very distinctive facial tattoo
or marking that he hopes will help police find him.
So I just want everybody to know his face and be on the lookout,
and, you know, it's a great neighborhood,
so hopefully we'll just band together.
Keep a closer lookout for each other.
Jones says nothing was stolen,
but Dallas police say they are investigating this as a burglary.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dallas police.
