It's going to be about social media
and something that I got hanging on the wall in there.
Stay tuned.
Guys, y'all
are stuck with
me tonight.
It's just me.
Oh, forgive me.
I did not mean to hit the microphone.
So if that caused you problems.
This is Curtis and this is the HVAC Guy podcast.
Today, we're going to be talking about.
Hold on a second.
I want to bring comments up so I can see what y'all are saying.
Today, K2 hack.
Thank you, man. Dude, you are a frequent flyer. Thank you.
Today, we're going to be talking about social media
and some of the tactics that people use,
what it's used for when it comes to HVAC and small businesses,
and maybe using it as a way to generate income from the very beginning.
So we're going to talk about it.
Y'all, please light up the comments and let me know you're there.
I'm going to try to pull everybody up on.
On my channel here, so I can see what's going on.
Uh-oh, it looks like the HVAC guy's going live.
There we go.
Yeah, for me, social media was something...
Y'all forgive me, I keep bumping the desk.
Social media for me was something that I just kind of stumbled across,
and it grew into something really nice
and something very useful as far as running a small business.
I did kind of allude to.
Something that was back here. Can y'all see that?
I know y'all are watching. I can see you there. Can y'all see that?
I'm just going to bring it a little bit closer.
Yeah, this is it. So if y'all haven't seen one of these,
I certainly have never seen one of them.
So this just came in the mail the other day.
I actually thought it was going to be bigger.
I'm glad this is a little small format.
Something I'm happy to be proud of.
The reason I picked social media
to talk about today is because of a question.
Um, one of my social media followers had,
and I'm going to try to read it without revealing
who this person is.
And this question is basically about social media.
Hold on just a second.
I've figured out how to make this thing work.
Here we go.
Here's the question.
Hey, I'm new to the IG side of content creating
and have been asking around for tips and networking.
You got any recommendations in regards to brand building on Instagram?
So yeah, this person particularly is interested about brands building,
and for a young professional
who may be just getting started in HVAC,
I know this person is, your brand is something
that you think about, at least in today's day and age.
When I was getting started, no, we didn't really think about our brand.
And, you know, um...
I forget, the LinkedIn was just really...
Getting started and so having a social media presence
that is actually kind of like a resume
that is your brand that you carry with you as a young professional,
that's something that I
didn't really think about.
It was not really was happening, not that I knew about, but it is
something that happens now.
I see people who are doing it from not just HVAC, but
cooks, people in culinary arts
who are posting pictures of the stuff that they're doing even
though they may not own their own business yet,
they're creating a brand and including some of
the people who are also just selling products.
So the brand thinking when it comes to social media
is something that some people
who are serious about the social media and the profession they're
getting into, the brand is something
that you should start on immediately. I think
And social media is hugely important
because you are displaying not just for maybe future
employees, maybe future customers in your best work,
taking pictures of it and showing
it.
And it's not just a benefit to me.
And if you are a known brand for a company,
for them to know, for their customers to know
that that person is on staff.
So those things can be helpful.
I would.
I only think that maybe some people might be intimidated by it,
like employers, but I think developing a brand
with social media is a good idea from the very rip.
Now, for me, I came into it late.
The, um...
Thank you for the congratulations,
and he's talking about this.
Yeah, let me show it one more time.
Yeah.
Yeah, thank you.
I never thought I'd never.
Started social media.
Actually, I was on YouTube long before I was on anything else.
I never started social media for the intent of making a buck
or getting sponsors or developing a brand.
I was just simply trying to pass on what little I know,
you know, before I die.
Basically, that's why, because I got no kids and no employees.
And it was just to share some knowledge
that I hope that some of y'all have found helpful.
Before we get into the...
into the comments. I'll see some of my comments,
and you'll see there, Randy.
Thank you.
Social media, for me, has become something outside
of the personal brand that some people create.
It has become linked.
For a long time, it was not linked to my business.
The only way you even knew
I had social media, if you visited my business website or anything,
was the fact that my website
was my YouTube page. That was the only link.
And, um...
Yes. I'm going to stop right there.
And I got to agree with Nicole. YouTube is social media.
YouTube, in my opinion, is the larger social media platform.
And by far more people are more active on it than any other.
But as a company using social media, I think it's hugely important.
It's absolutely phenomenally important because
Once again, like the brand we
were just talking about for an individual person,
you are creating a brand for your company
in a space for your customers in their home.
So they're watching you.
It's like years ago when everybody
was watching regular TV commercials on their local TV.
Instead of doing that, they are seeing you on their social media.
They're seeing you when they're looking for things going
on in your town on the TikTok or something.
Social media is important.
If you get brand recognition from the very start as a business
and promote your business
and you're putting yourself out there and it's good work,
it helps your business.
Just a little bit I have been doing,
and the reason I'm talking about this, the little
bit I've been doing on Facebook,
I'm just basically reposting my Instagram stuff on
Facebook and dropping a video over there once in a while.
Well, and.
Because of Facebook in particular.
My generation is on Facebook, and right now, that generation,
Generation X, is most likely to be on Facebook and making the decisions
for a household whether or not to buy or repair an air conditioner.
So it's convenient to meet them in their space where they're
on social media and be a presence to them
and show them good work before they even need you.
So when they do need you, they recognize the face, if that makes sense.
And it's almost, I mean,
it's basically what I'm doing on that platform and some of Instagram
is free to do.
It's like free advertising
and Facebook eventually gets where it might pay you a little bit.
From Lampost, keep up your videos.
Very informative.
You do a great job of explaining what's going on.
Well, thank you.
I have not always done a great job of explaining.
I've learned to do that a little better.
Adios.
Nicole, it's like you're getting a question.
I learned to do that a little bit better.
Thank
Speaking on camera at first was kind of odd,
and I've gotten used to it.
Nicole at ACIQ.
Nicole, you still in the comments.
So, guys, social media for a business, I think,
you.
in today's day and age is hugely important.
It's one of, I've said before, I kind of just stumbled into it,
and I'm learning how to leverage the social media.
That I built on YouTube, leverage it for my business,
maybe on the Facebook page or through Instagram locally.
These things are and I'm finding it's just it's just a great resource
when you already have that database of your social media built.
Yeah, it's it's helpful. It's helpful.
So I encourage everybody to get into the social media,
especially if you are starting.
A business, a business that has a public profile.
Well, speaking of Nicole from ACIQ over there
in the comments, AHR is coming up and it's
my intention to go visit Nicole
and some other folks over at ACIQ in Chicago.
I'll go.
Y'all comment if you're going to Chicago or y'all would like to go.
The only problem is it's right in the middle of winter.
I do not even remotely have clothing.
Built for that kind of thing.
I'm going to have to go shopping for some real long johns
and maybe a double layer of pants or something.
I mean, because winter in Chicago is no joke.
I know it's not.
All right.
I mean, I went through dead of winter in the western part
of Virginia and thought I was going to die.
So I'm not looking forward to,
what, near zero temperatures?
Holy smokes.
It's like.
You know where I live, it rarely snows.
We had like seven inches of snow a couple years ago and
that was like a once-in-a-lifetime experience
for a lot of people around here. I got some
pictures of it. I got Riley out there trying not to step in it.
The snow is a rare thing, so
I'm just saying when I get to Chicago, I'm proud.
It's going to be cold.
I'm probably not going to be able
to stay outside for more than 30 seconds.
We got another question from Randy.
Are Breeze 33 thermostats similar to Pro-1?
Sure.
I think the Breeze, I'm getting them confused with C-Love,
so I'm not real sure.
I may be installed one or two of them for a customer,
but I have enough experience with those to tell you.
The tool collector is in the house.
Speaking of tool collector,
I got a new bag.
I actually bought it.
In Columbus, Georgia, when I was up there,
and I'm going back up there tomorrow, so maybe I'll see
y'all in Columbus, and I bought this bag, and you know,
they come with these little bottle openers, and I happened to have me
a parrito, and I tried to open the top with it, and you know
this thing bent before it opened the top of my bottle? Come on now.
I know it's a keychain, but I want it to be working keychain, y'all.
Well, God, is it nothing serious going on?
This week is coming, it's actually,
I feel like it's slowing down just a little bit,
and I'm a little bit thankful because
our temperatures have been hovering around like
93, 94, 95 degrees,
so some of the weather that recently came through, it seems like it
dropped our temperatures just a little bit,
so I am extremely thankful about that.
Those heat waves can be terrible if they're
not well vented over 140 degrees, so
yeah, I'm thankful to see some a break in the weather.
Guys, I know this has been really short.
The conversation has been great.
I'm sorry, I wanted to talk about social media.
I actually invited a friend of mine to come along with me.
Couldn't make it.
So, y'all, I just wanted to say hello,
drop in, and once again, share this with you.
I'm sorry, I just happened to be real proud of it.
I'll talk to y'all later.
I hope y'all enjoyed the broadcast.
