Low voltage short

This one I came to when I got here, the disconnect was turned off. All of the low voltage for the electric heat have been disconnected. I reconnected the thermostat, but this is constantly hot. So I got to go outside and see why it's constantly hot. Okay, so I've got my heat strip wire disconnected. The wire is hot, but the defrost control board is not. I come down here and I see this. In here, it's just connected to white. But I got to dig into that and see what's behind all that. What do I have here? What is that do you do when you don't have any wire nuts? Owner didn't tell me nobody. Somebody else had already been here. He just said I didn't have no heat. And I told him the thermostat was blank. He acted surprised. So that ground was common. Still got 24 volts. Let's see if this is hot. All right. White wire is not hot out here. So that bundle of wires was my problem. I'm going to put stuff back together up in the attic and try to clean this up some kind of way. And I'll be back. I personally don't like it when the thermostat wire is not in seal tight. It creates problems. This may have been hit with a weed eater or something. Doing my red wire first keep it from shorting to anything else. Shocking me. Need to hear all those birds in the background. This homeowner has what looks like a bunch of parakeets in cages in his garage. It was hot too. Felt that one break anything much different than what was already there. Shortened to my white wire. Okay, so that last one with the thermostat wires, that was my last call for the day. And Tom, he told me my competitor, one of the biggest companies in town, came out and wanted to change out his whole air conditioning system. And you saw what it was, it was just a shorted thermostat wire. So he's happy and I'll get his business next time something happens.
