Replaced a 60 amp breaker with a 70 amp, disconnecting a strip, replacing thermostat.
All right,
looks like we got a heat pump package in there.
Nothing's
working.
Power,
I'm gonna check
real quick.
See if we got any
direct shorts.
I'm showing mega, six mega ohms to ground.
That might
be enough
to trip
a breaker.
Six
mega
ohms
to
ground.
Clean
this
out
real
quick.
All right, nothing's making a beep.
We're gonna switch
to ohms, three
and four mega ohms.
I think that'll make it trip a breaker.
Let's ohm out the windings.
1.6, 1, 2.2. That's not really great.
Just two, one and two ohms.
I didn't watch.
Power to it and see what happens.
I think, um, all right, we got power restored.
We are fixing
to see if it trips a breaker.
It did not. I'm on kill power again.
Check my capacitor. It was a
60 amp breaker
on what looks like,
it looks like 15kW.
Take another look
at this breaker.
It was this breaker right here
that says 60.
Yeah, maybe
it don't
need 15 kW.
I'll do a little more research on this,
and I might disconnect one of these heat strips.
Here I have, as you see, disconnected one of the heat strips
because it's just got a 60-amp breaker.
I don't have anything bigger than that.
I need something like an 80-amp breaker on this.
But the heat pump is not coming on, and the thermostat says
it's calling, so I'm fixing to replace the thermostat.
Alright, we've got...
Honeywell thermostat set for electric or heat pump.
I'm not real sure what they're doing with the orange
wire there, but we got no heat pump working.
Looks like they're using brown for com.
Hello.
Alright
after
I got
her
going,
I went
back
out and
checked
the amp
draws,
and it's still pulling close to 60 amps,
even with one heat strip disconnected.
So I disconnected two heat strips and got her heat pump going.
I'm going to come back with a 70 amp breaker and hook up one of them.
Looks like number four aluminum, so I can't go any bigger than that,
so at least she'll have most of her heat.
