Hi everyone, it's Deja with Knit
and Crochet Ever After and today I have something new.
Yes, this is a pattern, but I'm doing something new with the pattern.
This is the Pied Bobble Scarf.
It's an infinity scarf in crochet.
I love the colors of this.
I'll get more into the pattern in a second,
but I want to explain what I'm doing with it.
So normally, this pattern would show up in my Etsy and Ravelry shows,
shows, the shops, and I would show you a pattern reveal
and link to those shops in the description.
I'm doing something new.
I'm rewarding the people that support me,
the people that are following the channel,
that are hitting the notification bell.
You're going to get first dibs on getting some
of these patterns for free for a limited
time only.
And by a limited time, I don't know how much time.
So this pattern could be up for a week, a month,
a couple of weeks. I don't know yet.
I don't know how long I'm going to keep each pattern up,
but I'm going to release certain patterns for free for a limited time.
And then they will go move over to my for paid pattern shops.
I will still have patterns that are free forever,
I'll have one coming out pretty soon,
and then I'll have some patterns where they will never be free,
they will always be a paid pattern.
So it will vary, and just being able to check out the video,
you'll know what's what. You'll
know if it's free forever, free for a limited time,
or is in my paid pattern shop. So again,
This is to reward my...
People, my people that have been watching me for years,
and I hope that it really benefits
people these days.
I know inflation's going crazy.
I want to be able to give back
and allow you guys to get some of the patterns that normally
would be for purchase only, be able to get those.
And, you know, please don't share these.
Please don't, you know, give them away once you download them.
They still are, you know, my proprietary property that I created.
So it's free for a moment, but please don't share.
Allow people to go and purchase their own
if they are past the free period and I want
to reward those that are supporting me and following me.
So definitely if you don't want to miss out on,
I have these limited time free patterns
and I plan to have a lot.
Um, be sure to subscribe and hit that notification bell
and like these videos to let me know
that you want more of these limited time free patterns
and go download the pattern as soon
as you can.
In the description, if it says free
for a limited time, it's still free.
If it then links to like an Etsy shop or my Ravelry shop,
then you'll know that it's time
That the free time has passed.
The video for this will always be up though.
So there is going to be a tutorial on the pattern
repeat that you will be able to access.
It's in the pattern, the link to the webpage so that you
can always get help if you need it on this pattern.
It's just the tutorial is not going to
give a lot of specifics so that you actually have
to access the pattern to see the rest of it. So
hopefully that makes sense.
I am now going to get into the actual pattern.
So this is the Pied Bobble Infinity Scarf.
You can see that it's a chevron.
I love the yarn colors that this was made in.
This is Lion Brand Ferris Wheel
and it's in wild violet color.
It took two cakes, so it's like 520 yards.
You can see it's super wide.
Very long. You can wrap it around your neck
a couple of times without choking yourself off.
And it's got just a very interesting chevron
that has a little bobble detail in it.
So it makes it a little bit special, you know,
rather than you're just plain chevron.
So I really enjoyed making this.
This is one of those.
Um, you can get lost doing it because it's a very easy repeat.
So you can sit there and watch TV at the same time,
which is always a super plus for me
or a road trip project.
Um, I used a six millimeter US J hook for this.
You could even go up in a hook size to make it even more drapey.
Um, you will need more yarn.
So just be wary of that.
Because this is such a short repeat, you can really...
Make it any length you want.
You could also make it just a regular scarf.
So in the pattern, it talks about how you're joining it.
That'll give you the details on if you want
to make it an infinity scarf or not, but let's
go work on the pattern repeat
and how to read your stitches so that you can get going on
this project.
And then we'll come back and do some final thoughts.
Okay.
So our one row repeat, I love one row repeats.
We are going to tall chain.
And that takes the place of a double crochet,
or actually it takes the place of a chain
three.
It does not take the place of the double crochet
because we're going to do a double crochet
in the same stitch.
But the tall chain is going to be about the height of a double crochet.
And then we double crochet in that first stitch.
And then we lose the gap we normally would have from a chain three.
So we'll go over that again one more time.
Then, in our next stitch, we are going
to be doing two double crochets in that next stitch.
So one, and then one more in that same stitch.
We're going to DC double crochet
in each of our next two stitches.
Our repeat begins.
So we're gonna skip our next two stitches,
which if you're looking at it, you can look at the top
and you can look at the Vs, you can skip those two Vs.
You're skipping these two posts of double crochets
to create that valley of our chevron.
So we're gonna yarn over, skip those two,
work into that third one.
If you are new, look for the Vs on top,
go into that third V.
So we're going to do a double crochet in this one and in the next
two stitches which will bring us over to our center.
So we got one, two,
and then one in this last spot
which is our bobble from the row below.
Then we're going to work a bobble, a chain two,
and another bobble all around this chain
two spot.
So our bobbles are yarn over, insert,
pull up a loop, we do that four times, so that's
one, yarn over, pull up two, yarn over,
pull up three, yarn over, all tangled, pull up
four.
Then we're going to yarn over and pull through all the loops at once.
Then we're going to lock it in with a chain one.
You can tighten that chain one down if you want whatever you like
It's not going to be used. So you're going to do two more chains
Which that chain one does not count as,
which it points out in the special instructions in the pattern.
And then we're going to do another bobble.
So a trick for the bobble, and you can pull it up,
you know, as much as you want.
It'll just kind of stick out more the more you pull it up.
So if you keep it kind of tight, if you keep it really low.
Depending on how big you want your bobble,
if you keep it low and tight, you'll have
a smaller bobble.
If you want more room, or you want it to stick out even more,
yank it up as high as you can
get it.
Was that two?
I think so.
Three and four.
And then a trick to get through all of these loops at once,
turn your hook facing down
So it'll kind of go right through those V's there.
So pull through all nine loops,
yarn over and make that chain, then we're going to do
three more double crochets.
So we're looking at that bobble down there,
we're going to do one in that stitch, one
in the next double crochet,
one in the next double crochet,
and then our repeat starts
However, we are at the end of our stitches here,
so it says to our last six stitches,
so we have one, two, three, four, five, six,
that there's a tall chain there, so we don't
count that as a stitch.
So that repeat is going to be this kind
of little spot here, and then we finish it off
by skipping the next two stitches,
so those two posts to make our next valley.
We double crochet in our next two stitches,
one and two, then we're mirroring what we
did at the beginning. So we did two,
and then we did two in that second to last stitch, or this
the second stitch here, this is the second to last on this end.
So we're going to do two double
crochets in that stitch,
and then in our final stitch we're just going to do one double crochet,
just like in the, just like on the other side.
So you'll see we have that tall chain there,
I'm just going to do a chain three for fun
so we're going to count that as a double crochet
just so you can see the difference.
We'll do this repeat one more time. So we're going to
leave that as our double crochet
and then we're going to do two double crochets in the next stitch
just so you can see what it looks like.
I'm going to try to kind of hide the little until
we get a little bit further down
and do double crochet in the next two stitches. One, two,
And we're going to skip those next two stitches to make our valley,
and we're going to double crochet in our next three.
Bobble, chain 2, so you don't even really need to watch,
I'm hitting stuff, you don't
really need to even read your pattern once you are getting going,
because you're just
going to kind of look at what's below.
So you've done 3, and it's 3, you know,
you can just look, there's 3 on each row coming
up, and we hit our bobble stitches,
so we're working in that chain 2, so we're going to
I'm going to bobble, two, three.
Pull through, chain one,
I like to tighten it down a little just to kind of squish the
bobble together.
Chain two, another bobble,
I like making my bobbles very bubbly, bubbly bubbly, so I pull
them up a lot.
Then I tighten that down again, then I'm doing another three,
so I'm working into that bobble
here, and then one more, then I've got to make
my next valley, so I skip the next two
Skip that one, skip that one.
Down at the end again, so I'm gonna double crochet,
double crochet, two double crochets,
ran out of slack, and then one
double crochet at the end.
So, let's look at that chain three.
And that's what we're doing,
we're just gonna keep doing that over and over again.
So when we look at this,
We can see, here's the row where we did the tall chain,
here is our double crochet, or
sorry, our chain three.
So you can see that little gap there,
it's not super noticeable, even if I sit there
and squish it next to it, it's not too noticeable,
but once you get your scarf going, and depending
on the yarn that you're using,
this could get really large, and you know, if I sit there
I'm pulling it, you can totally see it, but it...
can be pretty noticeable on a full scarf
so I suggest doing the tall chain that kind of hides it
and it doesn't really add much to the edges
but it just makes it look so if we kind of
hold it out here we can see we have it's all nice
and full here and then we have that gap
over here in the end
and if I kept going we would see that on every other row
On each side you would have
those gaps going all the way up so up to you
I like tall chains for that reason, but that is our repeat.
So let's go back and do some final thoughts
Okay so you see the pattern repeat? Super simple.
Definitely get that pattern to know how many
stitches you're making, how to join it.
That's going to be all in the actual pattern itself.
Depending on the yarn you use you may need to block it after.
This was straight off the hook.
I did not have to block it at all.
If I block it I'll probably get some more length on it.
Um, the width usually doesn't change too much
when you block, but if you're, if you have
kind of edges that aren't quite laying straight,
definitely block it and get them straight.
That will help a ton, but I love
when a project comes off your hook and you don't have to
block it.
So I wanted to show you how that looks without the blocking.
So this lion, lion, lion, yeah, lion, lion's a word.
Lion Brand Ferris Wheel yarn is a really great yarn
that doesn't seem to need blocking,
at least for this project, so I'm very happy with this yarn.
So, that is the pattern.
If it's free, definitely go download it right now.
If not, make sure that you subscribe and hit the notification bell
so that the next time I release my next limited time free pattern,
you can jump on it immediately.
