The SHOCKING Truth Behind The Alex Bregman Signing...
Oct 30, 2026
We have brand new information on the Alex Bregman contract
as he is now a Boston Red Sox.
I'm here to break down all of the new information that we have
on the contract as well as the entire Alex Bregman situation
in Boston on this episode of Red Sox Digest.

Thank you guys, but now let's get to it and break down
this massive news and the new details on the Bregman deal.
Now, I'm just excited to be able to bring you a video
that isn't Alex Bregman and the Red Sox are in talks,
and Alex Bregman and the Boston Red Sox are having conversations.
Yes, we were having conversations,
and we finally went out there and got the job done.
We were discussing this all offseason long,
how the Red Sox are complimenting and patting themselves on the back.
For being in the talks with and in conversations
with big-name player after big-name player,
despite not landing any of them.
Obviously, we did go out and acquire Crochet
and Buehler and the good pieces that we added
to the pitching staff, whether it
be in the starting rotation or the bullpen.
But again, the conversation around
the right-handed bat has been present all offseason long,
and we have failed to do anything until now.
We go out and we acquire Alex Bregman.
This is huge. Not only do we have a very, very competent
right-handed bat who is going to be substantial offensively,
but also the versatility defensively is going to be substantial.
His ability to not only play second base,
but as well as possibly going back to his home position at third base
and allowing Rafael Devers to move to DH
and taking some of the pressure off of him defensively
as we know he is not the best defender in the MLB.
Especially at the hot corner of third base.
Again.
So there's a lot to break down.
We're going to start with this tweet
from Buster Only, the one and only, as he goes on
to say the deferrals on the Alex Bregman deal are significant.
The present day value of his contract is expected
to be assessed in the range of the $90 million
for three years.
So again, Alex Bregman,
it's obvious why you ended up choosing the Boston Red Sox out of
all of the other offers.
As we know, as of now, the Tigers offered six for $171.5 million.
Again, that is a substantial contract, and again,
he had connections to A.J. Hintz there,
and he still decided to go to Boston as,
again, three years, $120 million,
the shortest contract in the sense of total length presented
by Boston out of all the teams considered,
but again, the highest AAV,
and that seems like what got Alex Bregman really swayed to Boston,
and again, I don't think it's just that,
as we mentioned in the last episode of Red Sox Digest.
I guess if you look at this roster against us.
Van Graaff, as they already do have Alex Bregman
in the lineup listed at second base.
We do not have his jersey number yet.
Again, we will find out that soon.
But again.
Bregman on this team makes it substantially better,
but if you look around, Durant's a young piece.
Devers is not very old.
Casas, Abreu, Wong, Raffaella,
there is a lot of young pieces surrounding this lineup,
as well as not even mentioning the farm system
that is ranked number one in the entire MLB.
Now, this, and to stem off of that,
now we go to the MLB network,
really exciting that we're going to do,
and John Morrissey, who was on there this morning
at 9.30 a.m. is when they posted this.
The Red Sox will have two major questions
in Fort Myers in the coming days,
a quote from John Morsi on MLB Network.
He goes on to discuss Alex Bregman's reported contract with Boston
and what the deal could mean for the club's talented prospects,
alluding to, obviously, Christian Campbell,
one of the best prospects in the entire MLB,
specifically, obviously, with this Red Sox organization.
He's a top prospect just behind Roman Anthony
and players like Marseille Mayer.
Campbell seems like the number one guy
that is going to be called up this season, at least
at the quickest date, if you will,
because of how great he has really progressed over
the last calendar year,
how not only the offense has really come along substantially, but also
having the defensive capabilities at second base,
as well as being a right-handed bat.
This was someone that we anticipated getting
the call up if we did not sign someone like
Alex Bregman, who had the versatility
to play third as well as second base.
Now, we know we had David Hamilton as well as Vaughn Grisham
who were competing for the
second base position going into this season,
going into spring training, and now I believe
that all has been altered due to signing Alex Bregman,
which is not a bad thing.
The only thing is how much are we going
to alter the timeline of Christian Campbell?
Now, we can't be greedy here,
but there are a lot of moving parts that John Morrissey
goes on to break down that we've had discussions about in the past.
What are we going to do with Masataka Yoshida?
Is he going to maintain our DH spot? If that's the case...
It seems like Devers is going to stay at third,
and Bregman would then be our everyday second baseman.
Now, I'm not saying there's not going
to be days where Devers has a day off, or Yoshida has a day off,
and we can move pieces around because we are so versatile.
Yoshida obviously is a left fielder,
but due to the shoulder problems that he dealt with last season,
and the lack thereof of available reps in the outfield,
obviously he has been the DH for the majority of his time in Boston.
But he does have the ability to play left field as well
as the surplus of talent that we already have in the outfield.
Now Bregman is coming into Boston, he's going to be able
to play second base because he has the ability to do so at such
a high level, but we all know he is primarily a third baseman,
so moving Devers to DH is still a possibility with the ability
to move Bregman back to third, improving defense all around,
and then moving Campbell up to the MLB level and putting him
at second base, not only acquiring Bregman as a right-handed bat
who's experienced with a lot of versatility as well as
It seems like really the foundation
and really just the overall what we've seen
through his nine-year career, just the experience and the resume,
he's going to feast in Fenway.
If you can add Bregman, which we've already done,
and then we can move him to third and establish a great defensive spot
at that hot corner and then allow someone who's young and promising
with the upside of Christian Campbell to come up and play second base,
this could be an explosion from the Boston Red Sox.
Before we move Campbell up or not, I think this is substantial.
I think this is the biggest move we've made up
to this point in the offseason.
Because if we miss out on Bregman,
and he walks to the Cubs, if he walks to Toronto,
if he walks to the Tigers, the Houston
Astros, whatever it may have been,
we would have been the biggest loser in that situation.
Not only because we missed out on Bregman,
but because Bregman was our last chance.
We went the entire offseason in conversation, in discussions with.
connected to but never closing the deal
and we finally did it and again Bregman we've broken
this down the last three episodes
of Red Sox Digest check out the OPS an average of a 1200 OPS
in his nine-year career playing against the Boston Red Sox
in Fenway specifically he is going to find
a home in Boston where he is more than comfortable
and I honestly I cannot wait to see it a Jurassic
Pole hitter who's going to be hitting off
that monster where he's going to be able to hit doubles
All day long off that green monster off the Fenway wall,
and I can't wait to watch it all play out.
Now, that is not the only MLB network.
What we are going to follow, it's also this one again
from John Morrissey, again, just a few hours later, as it goes on,
or this is from last night, excuse me, as MLB Network tweets,
this changes the American League because the Boston Red Sox now have
a legitimate lineup to threaten that of the New York Yankees,
and the quote from John Morrissey on Alex Bregman's reported deal
with the Boston Red Sox, and I couldn't agree more, as we know.
The Yankees are a powerhouse.
There's no way around it.
They do have a substantial lineup powered by Aaron Judge,
obviously, as, again, the dude hits 50-plus home runs,
it feels like, every year.
He doesn't even swing the bat, and the ball goes 800 feet.
I understand.
But, again, they are lacking in some areas,
particularly in the infield.
They do have key pieces, but, again,
are they going to be able to carry 162?
Now, with the roster, the Red Sox currently have
There's young pieces spread out all over
the place with the ability to call up prospects
and have more depth and more versatility.
I think we are just very, very well built,
excuse me, not only in the sense of look at
all the talent we have, but we have versatility.
We have so much just ability.
Obviously, Duran Costas.
Bregman, all these guys have so much abilities in themselves,
but again, Duran is a young
piece who can play really anywhere in the outfield.
He'll play the majority of center field, we understand.
Raffaella is a five-tool player
who can play in the infield as well as anywhere in the
outfield.
He has decent speed to cover ground.
Abreu is another great young piece
who can play anywhere in the outfield.
Again, great speed, great range, a good arm.
He's going to be able to carry
the load anywhere you put him in the outfield.
anywhere. Yoshida, primarily a left fielder,
had injuries to his shoulder, his throwing
shoulder specifically, and because of that, he's been playing D8.
He's a quality bat. If it falls
off, Morrissey does mention in this MLB Network tweet,
if you listen to the actual video tagged
below, and I believe it's about 90 seconds long,
if not just a minute longer.
He mentions one of the two things
that we're going into Fort Myers with,
in the spring training with, is the idea of possibly moving.
Again, if Devers is going to move from third base, he has to go to DH
because we do still have Casas,
and it would be too drastic to move Casas.
And I don't believe there's any reason to move Tristan Casas
in the sense of a trade to another team for other assets.
I don't believe it was worth it.
Earlier in the offseason, it was a conversation.
At this point, as currently constructed, there is no reason to move
The young piece in Tristan Casas,
who should be our first baseman for the foreseeable future.
But again, if we move Devers to DH
and move Bregman back to third base, where do we put
Yoshida?
Because again, we do have a surplus of talent
that we can use in the outfield already.
Would we prefer Yoshida?
I'm leaning the other way.
I like the young pieces that we have in Abreu,
Rafaela, Durant, obviously, as well as others.
What do we do with Yoshida if we can package him and get rid
of his heavy contract and move Devers back to DH or to DH I should say
and allow Bregman to move back to his original position at third base?
I think this is one of the best rosters in all of baseball.
I know no one's competing with the Dodgers in that sense.
But again, when we step on the diamond
and when things start actually going on
and we're playing baseball games and we're in the thick of it,
do not sleep on this Red Sox team as Breslow has cooked.
And I know we were killing him all offseason long
because the lack thereof moves.
We're talking to this guy.
We're talking to that guy.
Finish the deal! Do it! Finish it!
And you finally did it, and it's
substantial. If you would have missed on Bregman, I mean
this. We would have been the biggest losers
of the entire offseason
in the sense of, we talked
to all these guys, we never finished it.
We never got those guys. And again,
if the Cubs would have got them, or if anyone else
would have got them, we would have been the biggest
loser in that situation if we do not
land Alex Bregman. Again,
and it just, I mentioned this at the very
end of the last video discussing the Bregman
contract and the Bregman situation.
But we got our aura back.
There is something going on with the Red Sox.
This is what we needed.
This is exactly what we needed.
John Henry's wife posted this.
This is what we needed.
There's a little bit of swag to it, if you will.
There's just an aura.
There's just a mojo about it.
And it really feels like it's substantial.
And it's not just...
The fan base, it feels like it's involved in the organization.
It's the players.
It's all of the moving parts.
It's all the pieces to the puzzle,
and I can't wait to see how this all looks on the diamond.
I'm just itching for baseball at this point.
I can't.
Thank you guys for watching.
I'll see you guys on the next one.
I'm so excited.
I'm so happy we got Alex Bregman.
I'll see you guys on the next episode of Red Sox Digest.
Thank you guys for watching.
