Yeah, well, we now know as well and we've always known
that this intersection just right behind me here between Cropsey Avenue
and Bay Parkway has been long considered one
of the most dangerous in Brooklyn. And now it's taken the life
of 30 year old Siobhan Lynch after police say she was hit and killed
by a city sanitation truck while she tried to cross the street.
Now take a look. This is a video from that scene. As you can see there,
the DSNY truck remained here at the scene after that crash.
Investigators say a 41 year old
man was behind the wheel of that city truck attempting
to make a right turn onto Bay Parkway
on Wednesday just after 6:30 p.m.
when he struck the victim police say Lynch suffered severe
injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital
the crash comes weeks after the city broke ground
on a new bus lane project along this stretch
of Prospect Avenue designed to improve safety and
traffic flow but neighbors here say
the construction is only worsening the already
dangerous conditions.
The light is broke every week when it rains from the speed cameras they
put up with the construction that messed up all the lighting.
This is every other day there's
an accident on this corner.
And that concern grows as city data shows that there's been
four people killed along this intersection between 2021 to 2025.
Now as of this year,
there's been also 11 injuries
this crash that happened
say the driver did remain
aren't facing any charges
