All right, let's talk about your Halloween weather
because people are interested, you want to know,
and we do have some potential issues for Halloween weekend.
A part of the reason why we do have the rain chances that we have,
well, we've got tropical moisture that will be streaming in.
And you can see that big blob of yellow and red.
That is tropical depression Vance.
It is rapidly weakening, but even in its weakened state,
the remnants of Vance could kind of haunt us over the next few days
because that tropical moisture is going to
spill into parts of Texas especially western
and central Texas over the next day or two
and that is going to mean the risk
for flooding you can already see a flood watch posted
right around Midland for parts
of West Texas flash flood warnings just east of El Paso
so that gives you an idea of kind of what
is to come over the next few days we will have at least
a low threat for maybe a few brief heavier rain
showers especially Saturday morning Saturday
afternoons. You can see even
that low marginal flood threat impacting some of
our eastern counties for Halloween,
like Liberty County, Chambers County and
parts of Polk and San Jacinto counties.
Don't think it's gonna be widespread
flooding, but there could be some heavy downpours.
The good news, though, I
think the majority of the rain will fade by trick
or treat time on Saturday
night. So breaking it down the next three days,
it's only a low 10% shot
for showers tomorrow
with some slightly drier air building in up to a 40%
chance, though, Friday afternoon,
30% Friday night, 60% our highest chance
for rain during the day Saturday.
I think by late Saturday afternoon, that
rain is starting to push out
and by Saturday night, that chance for rain
drops to about 20%. It's not gonna be a ton of rain here.
I think the majority
of the flood threat is going to be back
towards Lubbock and Midland. You see
this model through the weekend,
showing the potential for 2, 3, maybe four inches
of rain there, but not that optimistic
that we're going to get heavy rain here.
So be a close call. We'll have to wait and see,
but just make sure to have a backup plan,
maybe inside just in case that rain overstays. It's welcome.
It hangs out a few hours longer than we want it to on Halloween night.
For tomorrow, though, we're not going to have
to worry about too much rain. It is isolated a 10% chance.
It's going to be warm out there, though, for this time of October.
84 degrees, 81 for the high Friday. The rain will be building in,
especially Friday afternoon, Friday evening into the nighttime.
All right, let's jump ahead to Saturday night.
trick-or-treat time. A lot of kiddos may
be heading out between 6 and 7 p.m. That's going
to be around sunset time, 6:30, 6:35,
and there's still a 50-50 shot for rain, but if you're going
out a little bit later, 8, 9, 10 p.m.,
that rain chance dips to 10 to 20 percent, and temps will
likely kind of hover in the 70s all evening long for Saturday.
So our trick-or-treat weather is
looking pretty good. It looks like we will have
a much better chance for strong storms, heavy rain,
unfortunately on election day Tuesday.
So take advantage of early voting. You may get to avoid
some messy weather that could pop up on us
with the strong cold front on Tuesday. So we'll be
watching that. Also keep in mind we fall back this weekend.
Daylight saving time ending. I'm looking
forward to that extra hour of sleep
but you may not like that early sunset. That's going to be at 5 34 p.m
on Sunday.
