Lauren was with me yesterday.
I went over to Juicy Scoop, the studio of Heather McDonald,
and spent a little north of an hour with her taping her podcast.
Lovely, lovely person. Great conversationalist.
So that should be coming out.
um and it's interesting
because we we talked about a lot of things Meghan Markle's dad who
you know the comment section doesn't like uh
for example crazy about Meghan Markle's dirtbag dad,
says C-Dubs right there uh yeah she wanted
to talk about that that was the first and then we uh we
talked about uh the evolution of the Amy Griffin story
and this is what's interesting ever since
I went to that wedding and ever since Amy approached me there
and that whole thing happened,
you know, people have been sort of catching up.
It's almost like this fascinating story that was
a boutique story has kind of gotten bigger.
In fact, you know, on Sunday, Ben Smith, the former
New York Times media reporter
who now is the editor-in-chief of Semaphore he wrote about
these alleged you know retaliations from Amy
and so Page Six yesterday they i was always amazed
at why uh yeah see Page Six did this here
the Times journalists children allegedly became
billionaire memoirists focus that is just
not a headline you want to read when you are a billionaire
uh especially billionaires need to lay low
and i mean like people inherently don't like
billionaires you know i mean you get oh this person's a billionaire
but it's you know who
who feels good for people that have
a billion dollars you need that so lay low and be super
charitable but uh Page Six I always thought why would why are they
so silent i thought this is
the exact type of story of very wealthy socialite,
you know, in controversy is what Page Six was sort
of built on in New York. But they were silent
on the whole thing. But they've written now
on the back of the Ben Smith article in Semaphore,
Ben reported on allegations that Amy tried to
retaliate against a New York Times reporter,
the reporter who initiated the whole investigation
back in September of 2023, Katie Rossman and her partner,
Liz Egan, Semaphore reported on
the allegations that Amy was targeting
the reporter's children out of retaliation.
The alleged threat happened
at Ari Emanuel's Aspen retreat shortly after the big investigation
in the New York Times came out.
Amy was there at Ari's annual gathering with her husband
according to a person seated with her Amy complained
that Katie Rossman of the New York
Times had made life miserable for her family how could she
do this and allegedly said that she
intended to do the same
to her son which you know you're sitting there hearing that you're like
whoa what is this mafia stuff the person
who reportedly heard Amy's remarks contacted an
intermediary to alert Katie Rossman hey you need
to know this Semaphore says that three people
familiar with the exchange corroborated that warning
so months after this Aspen encounter
Amy allegedly approached someone
with influence over admissions at a major American
university i think i know which one uh they have a big house
and asked that uh that person to
prevent Katie's children from being admitted.
Semaphore cites a person with direct knowledge
of the conversation. That person says they did
not act on the request. Never happened.
New York Times got its lawyers involved to protect their writer.
Katie informed the newspaper all
about this, and their general counsel, David McCraw,
subsequently spoke with Amy's attorney,
Tom Clare. The attorneys provided different accounts
of the conversation, but both
acknowledge that it happened.
Amy categorically denies both allegations of retaliation, both.
Her spokesperson says she never threatened either of Rossman's children
or contacted anybody
associated with a school or university about them.
Amy's spokesperson acknowledges that she
expressed distress over the impact
of the Times story on her daughter, but says
the words were mischaracterized.
So the New York Times has issued a strong response, okay?
because, call it a coincidence,
the statute of limitations for Amy to sue them
as she threatened, allegedly, reportedly, at the Aspen retreat there.
She had threatened, I'm going to sue the New York Times.
What they've done is defamation with this investigation.
But that statute has expired, okay?
September 24th, 2023, so a month ago, it expired,
which allows their spokesman at The Times,
Charlie Stattmiller, to call the allegations,
if accurate, he said, a stunning abuse of power
and influence against a journalist's family
and defended The Times' original reporting.
And by the way, we've said this, the original
reporting in The New York Times has stood up valiantly.
Because remember, when Amy filed her
lawsuit, there was, or excuse me, when Jolene Altam,
the young woman with whom she went to
eighth grade who sued Amy, when that happened,
Amy's lawyers immediately moved for some discovery
saying, okay, show us.
Amy always felt that the New York Times was really behind this and that
they had groomed this girl that Amy went to school
with to say that her story of abuse was stolen by
Amy, they groomed her, they shaped
her, they they planted everything, it was the New York Times
the New York Times, the New York Times
and in that discovery moment there, uh Amy got access, her
lawyers got access to Jolene's emails and exchanges
and communications with New York Times writers
Katie Rossman and Liz Egan, they got to see all
that you couldn't get it from the Times because
they're protected, they're journalists
but because this woman had sued her and she said, okay let's
see the communications.
Now I'm going to find all the evidence I need that these New York Times
journalists groomed this woman and set the whole thing up like an entrapment
So they looked at him,
found nothing, absolutely found nothing
So it stood the test of time there.
Now, keep in mind, no reported evidence
that Katie Rossman's son was actually harmed or that
anyone interfered with her kids' college admissions, okay
in the end nothing happened, it was probably
just unattractive bluster
because she felt cornered on her story, so that's it, we are one
week away from the midterms, yikes, uh it's very hot
also in Israel, my god, it's Netanyahu and
Idan Kifner or whatever whatever his name is, did I say cop cot cot cot
who thought that sounded
like something else, which way will Israel go, we
will find out very shortly, welcome guys, welcome

who was like very active in the chat section somebody must have
scared her away we don't know where she went
but she went on a cruise and she said i'm gonna report
