Hi everybody from the Fox 9 Weather Center.
Chief Meteorologist Ian Leonard here on a Wednesday afternoon.
It's really important that I let you know I'm recording
this for you at around 445 here on Wednesday afternoon.
We will of course keep this updated as we head through the evening,
but I want to back away here to give you
an idea of where we sit for the next few hours.
It is going to be a bit of a bumpy ride. The large red box,
that's a tornado watch in place until 9 p.m. It does include
the Twin Cities Metro and here at around 445
on a Wednesday afternoon very strong storms to the
north very strong storms to the south even
into the south metro all of these storms with their
direction are off to the east northeast at around 30 miles per hour
so this will be a rapidly
evolving and fast moving storm event tonight suffice it
to say with a tornado watch in place
most folks are probably thinking, are you crazy?
It's late October. It was warm. It was humid. It
was sunny. All of the ingredients needed.
Mother Nature doesn't rely on a calendar. This is a real
threat and I'd love for you to stay sky aware tonight
as we move through the next three or
four hours. In terms of tonight, the storm threat is real.
In terms of the day tomorrow and as we
work through the weekend,
temperatures are above average but will cool down from where we were
today halloween temperature for trick-or-treat somewhere
in the low to mid 50s and as we
fall back with our clocks we pick up an extra hour of sleep
and we move into scattered showers both
monday and into your vote day on tuesday there you go
a quick update stay sky aware
tonight my friends at tornado watch
in place including the metro until 9 p.m
