'Somebody has to know who he is': Suspect sought after alleged lewd act in resident's backyard

We're now to the search for the man caught on camera carrying out that lewd act in someone else's backyard. This is the video captured by several home surveillance cameras showing the man as he wandered through yards in an alleyway in Cheltenham. The sight, more than unsettling for those residents and prompting police to work quickly now to make an arrest. Fearful this may not be an isolated incident. Action News' Walter Perez live there at Cheltenham Township Police. Walter, some really sick stuff here. Brian, without question, imagine being the homeowners, seeing this whole thing unfold in your surveillance system, and police are hoping the public can help them find this person as quickly as possible. The entire disturbing scene was captured on surveillance video in Cheltenham. It unfolded a bit past midnight last Thursday. This man is clearly seen committing a lewd act in someone's backyard on the 8000 block of Old York Road. I didn't notice who this person was. I'd never seen him before. I was obviously very concerned about seeing something like this. Then, as the suspect continues engaging in lewd behavior, he walks down a nearby alleyway before going off camera. We're going through the process of trying to identify him, but the public's help is going to be huge in us trying to identify who this person is. Somebody has to know who he is. Sheltonham Police Lieutenant Andy Snyder says the department is eager to bring this man into custody as quickly as possible because behavior like this rarely occurs in isolation. We've seen before where, you know, these people engaged in these activities can also be engaged in other sexual offenses, you know. So we're concerned that who this person is, where they're from, what their motives are, what other activities they may be up to. We spoke with people who live and work in this part of Sheltonham who say this case just gives them one more thing to worry about. It's upsetting because we have a lot of young children in the area. I mean, we have a school right off of Elkins Avenue, and it's upsetting. It's not what you would expect to be happening in your neighborhood, but, you know, you always think that you've seen and heard everything, and you always get surprised. Now, that suspect could face any number of charges, including indecent exposure and public lewdness. Anyone with information is asked to contact police. Reporting live from Sheltonham, Walter Perez, Channel 6, Action News. Right? Okay. Walter, thank you.
