A lot going on election-wise, both here and in other states.
Of course, it's the final week before the midterms.
Republicans and Democrats are also pushing over
to win undecided voters in several high-stakes races.
One of those is in Texas, where Democrats have a chance to flip
a Texas Senate seat blue for the first time in more than 30 years.
We've been hearing about this race nonstop.
So let's get there to Lubbock, Texas.
Asher Redd is standing by right now.
So, Asher, there's a lot of activity where you
are happening right now, right?
Yeah, Paul, I mean, we had some dueling rallies yesterday
with President Trump in town.
He was rallying voters for Republican candidate Ken Paxton.
But Paxton's opponent, who is Democrat James Tallarico,
was also holding a large rally of his own just two miles away.
Now, Lubbock is a reliably Republican area here in West Texas.
But campaign officials tell me that about 4,000 people signed up
to attend Tallarico's rally last night
and another 500 people signed up to volunteer.
Tallarico's campaign even had to change
the venue to accommodate that many people.
And one member of his team said the line last night,
he says, stretched for five blocks
and about a thousand people still couldn't get in.
The Democratic candidate said that's just
the kind of turnout that he says could spell
trouble for Ken Paxton.
Take a listen.
Lubbock, you are my slingshot.
Texas are my slingshot.
And on November 3rd, those Goliaths aren't going to know what hit them.
And President Trump's rally just two miles away
also drew in about 4,000 people.
The president telling voters that Talarico could cause
their energy prices to increase
because of what he calls the Green New Deal scam.
Well, Paxton briefly joined Trump on stage. Here they are.
If James Talarico gets in, your energy costs will skyrocket.
He personally wrote the Texas version of the Green New Deal scam,
Which would annihilate millions of Texas jobs.
You are the most Republican area of our state.
And so I'm going to ask you for the next seven days,
get every Republican out to vote and we will win Texas.
And the latest Fox News power ranking shows
that this race is still a toss up.
And the undecided crowd that these candidates are trying
to reach is basically nonexistent with just 1%
of registered voters in Texas still undecided.
Now, both candidates are continuing on the campaign trail today
with Tallarico in Austin and Paxton in Abilene.
Back to you.
Yeah, all eyes on Texas right now.
All right, Asher Redd, good to see you, and we appreciate the update.
