Before the midterms, Republicans
and Democrats are pushing to win over undecided voters in
several high-stakes races. And one of those races is in Texas,
where Democrats have a chance to flip
a Texas Senate seat blue for the first time in more than 30 years.
Fox's Asher Reed joins us
from Lubbock, Texas,
where Republicans and Democrats held dueling rallies just miles
apart last night. Asher?
Yeah, John, President Trump was in town last night trying to rally
voters for Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton.
But Paxton's opponent, Democrat James
Talarico was just two miles away holding
a pretty large rally of his own now Lubbock is a reliably
Republican area in West Texas
but campaign officials tell me about 4 000 people signed up
to attend Talarico's rally last night
and another 500 people signed up to volunteer Talarico's
campaign had to change venues to accommodate that many people
and one member of his team said the
line to get in last night stretched about five blocks
and he says about a thousand people still
couldn't get a seat inside.
The Democratic candidate says that's the kind of turnout
that could spell trouble for Ken Paxton. Take a listen.
Lubbock, you are my slingshot.
Texas are my slingshot. And on November 3rd,
those Goliaths aren't going to know what hit them.
And President Trump's rally just two miles away
also drew in about 4,000 people. The president
telling voters that Talarico would cause
their energy prices to increase because of what he calls
The Green New Scam. Paxton briefly joined Trump
on stage, and here they are.
But if James Talarico gets in,
your energy costs will skyrocket. He personally wrote
the Texas version of the Green New Scam,
which would annihilate millions of Texas jobs.
All right, I'm gonna say this.
You guys, the election may depend on West Texas. You are
the most Republican area of our state.
And so I'm gonna ask you for the next seven days,
get every Republican out to vote, and we will win Texas. God bless you.
And the latest Fox News Power Ranking shows
this race is still a toss up.
Now both candidates are continuing
on the campaign trails today with Talarico in Austin
and Paxton in Abilene.
John.
Asher, thanks so much for being with us this morning.
