He has a way of getting to people.
He figures out who you are.
I'm back.
Are you?
Apple TV is about to release
your latest crime fix.
Nocturne is a 10-episode thriller based
on a best-selling book series by Swedish duo Lars Kepler.
Good day, Atlanta's Paul Millican recently caught up
with the show's stars and a co-showrunner for a first look.
They're here because we have reason to believe there are more victims.
No, they're here because I brought you here.
A best-selling book series gets an American makeover in Nocturne.
The 10-episode Apple TV crime drama starring Liev Schreiber,
Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham.
As I say, find your victims.
The show is based on books in the Juna Linna series
by Swedish crime writing duo Lars Kepler.
How helpful are the books to you as an actor in this case,
or were they helpful at all?
Did you have to just kind of throw them away?
They were hugely helpful to me and really inspiring.
I love the genre.
You know, the whole Nordic noir thing is really fun.
There's like a hook in every chapter and super difficult to put down.
But finding the American version of that, that bleakness,
that solitude, Zazie and I were joking, you know,
you could smell the snow when you read those books.
And what's the American equivalent of that?
And we talked about Maine at one point and then
and then kind of landed in western Pennsylvania.
I said, let's find a place, you know, in America that that would vibe
most directly with with what we're trying to accomplish cinematically.
And we ended up in western Pennsylvania,
which I'm from Ohio originally.
So I had a lot of familiarity with it.
And then once we kind of settled on the geography,
then the story kind of locked into place.
You need someone undercover to see what's really going on.
You're way too close.
Emmy nominee Beats is no stranger to starring
in a series dominated by a geographical location.
After spending four seasons in the FX hit Atlanta.
I am living in Atlanta.
I work for Good Day Atlanta.
You will be forever connected to our city.
So do you feel like a kinship forever with Atlanta?
Oh, absolutely.
I mean, the city, the show, obviously changed my life definitively.
And I thank, you know, Atlanta, the city, for being what it was,
inspiring Donald and his upbringing there and creating, I think,
a show that is really a wonderful reflection of the place.
It's quirk. It's creativity. And yeah, yeah, I love Atlanta.
And the feeling is mutual. Paul Millican. Good day, Atlanta.
