Thank you, Adam. You know that snow is coming down.
As we mentioned, this is live look at the summit at Snoqualmie.
And I mean, we're certainly seeing it snow right at this moment.
The pass could get several inches of powder during
this first significant snowstorm of the season. We are all so excited.
And Fox 13's Sean Titus braving the cold in Snoqualmie
this morning to give us a close up look at those road conditions.
Sean, how's it looking? Hey, Maria. Good morning. Well, good
definitely got all the layers when we are ready to step outside.
But right now we are in our
vehicle staying warm and I can show you how things
are looking here on the road. Plenty of snow
coming down and already sticking to the ground.
Right now we're working our way back west toward
Seattle, but we are here up at the top
and we noticed the weather quickly changed from rain
to snow just as we were reaching the top of the pass here on I-90.
And so these are certainly
the conditions that they have been preparing
for when it comes to WSDOT. We saw some plows out and
about and they want to remind folks about what you'll need
to be aware of if you are coming
through this week. This is not unusual to see snow in late October
and they certainly prepare for
this at the beginning of the month.
They say that they've already had their crews in that mindset
and working those shifts as if they were dealing
with winter weather since early October. Right now
we have traction tires advised in both directions.
And again, snow really coming down and also
sticking. So we're going to be here throughout
the morning to check on the condition,
see how things are looking.
Also check back in with WSDOT and get some more information and
helpful tips for you. Because remember,
this is all ahead of November 1st when you can start to
have snow tires as well as also need to have chains
when you're coming up here. So we'll
have updates for you throughout the morning.
Guys, back to you. Appreciate that, Sean. Thank you so
much. And with the arrival of cold,
wet winter weather in the mountains comes the reminders
of safe driving out there.
The National Weather Service does want to remind you it's important
to check those road conditions.
Make sure your car is in good shape and pack an emergency supply
kit, right? You never know when you're going to need that.
And as Sean mentioned, starting November
first, you can start making some of those changes.
You can put on your studded tires.
Those are allowed through March 31st.
