Passion, mystery, and plenty of Halloween spirit take center stage as “Phantom” comes to North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly.

Sean Seamus Thompson, who plays the Phantom, joins Boston 25 to explain how this production differs from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous “The Phantom of the Opera.” Based on the same Gaston Leroux story, this version features music by Maury Yeston and takes a more human look at the mysterious man beneath the mask, exploring his relationships, motivations, and complexities.

Thompson also talks about performing the show in the round, taking on the iconic Phantom character in multiple productions, and why audiences familiar with the famous story may discover something entirely different in this musical.

“Phantom” runs at North Shore Music Theatre through Sunday, Nov. 1.
