This is an install I had installed about 3 weeks ago. And it was one hell of a call. #hvac #hvaclife #fieldpiece #makita #ruud #furnace #furnacerepair #lowvoltage
Good morning, it is December 30th and I'm headed
to a um a recent install that um we did and it's
not cooling, this is a gas furnace and a coil in the attic
and straight cool condenser outside
so uh we'll see what it is, stay tuned
the heat works good
but there I couldn't get
it on, all right let's see
if the fan comes on
I hope I don't have to get
in that attic, well I
don't hear the fan out
there working either
you know the unit, let me see something, it says
right now the fan is switched on and it ain't
coming on is
it not good
you'd hate
climbing up
in there
yeah this
is a little
difficult
to get to
okay this
is actually
my first time
up here I don't
um since
the install has
been done
I don't know if y'all can see
that, but do y'all see that drain
is going uphill, yeah that that's
not gonna work and the fix ain't gonna be super
simple, but yeah that's that right there's not
gonna work and that might
be my my whole problem, I
also this tape right here
also ain't really the
best
First
first
let's
make
sure
we
got
power
I
can't
bend
down
Look
at
that
Right
now
it
looks
like my two yellows are going
to a different spot all right
so i gotta i gotta take a picture of
that and look at it because i can't i can't see
sometimes i don't always get to see the install
after the
guys have
done them
this right
here should
be showing
something
a blown fuse
blows
right
away
i'm just
gonna oh
i hear it
starting
to rain
disconnect
red to
thermostat
all together
and i'm gonna start
i'll start jumping
from each one
that that blew
immediately
a
display
and like
i said
red
to the
thermostat
is
disconnected
that
didn't
something
did not
sound
right
i was
jumping
to yellow
that just
blue
seeing
anything
obvious
all right
first i'm
going to test between here
and here that's my thermostat wires
and that right there tells me my
thermostat wire is shorted
to ground okay one
thing i'm noticing
is that this thermostat wire
is over here and i got a screw right behind it
so um that's my suspicion is where my problem is
right there
looks like
it's glued
these float
switches i
normally
don't glue
this piece
right
here hard to cut that out
okay the wiring diagram
on this shows red
and black get 24 volts
and orange and green are broken this white goes
to an alarm if you have one but um so that's how
i'm gonna wire it up i'm gonna break yellow with the orange
and green these thermostat wires loose
i'm going to my yellow
to ground nothing
on that one on that one
so which one is that
That's my thermostat wire going outside.
It might not be that
hard to pull a new wire.
Alright, so if you don't have an external alarm,
that white wire needs to be capped off.
If you look here,
that white wire becomes hot when it alarms.
So you don't want that dangling in here or anything.
I'm going to try to cut that.
Let's move that out of the way.
i'm
gonna
try to
cut it a
little
as
close
to this
45 as
i can
just
about
dry
it up
and so
this is
the only thermostat uh wire i have
and that's 1810 i got some two strand at the shop
but i'm gonna go
ahead and try to
pull this that's
what i've got it
ain't easy i got
the thermostat
wire stretched
out outside tied together
and taped up let's see if i can pull
off this houdini trick all right i
was unable to pull the wire this is my fish tape it seems
to be hitting the top of the roof
right there i'm gonna do my best to try to get over there
and find that fish tape and then hook
up this thermostat wire to it
and pull it through hopefully you know something this fish tape when
i tried to pull it back out got stuck because
because of the hook on the end all right my fish
tape got stuck at the top of that conduit
so i'm gonna try to crawl over there and reach my fish
tape pull it over and attach this to it
and somehow crimp it to keep it from getting caught at the top
of my conduit which
is what it was doing it's
just gonna take some time
the bad part is i can't get
my fish tape out of that conduit
all right i've been out here
for a while i separated the wires
to keep
from trying
to pull such
a big wire
so hopefully
this works
here we go
outside
and help
get started this is what i found it looks like
that may have gotten caught right there
you see what's
right here i
don't know if that
focuses on that
but that's bare
wire right there
but my wire
is pulling
through this
time these have
to be look
at this
hallelujah
all right
i gotta catch my breath my own job crawling
in and out of that little scuttle hole is almost done
yellow and brown
all right i
thought i had
my camera working
but this is my
thermostat wire going outside
see if y'all can listen for the
contactor 0.33 amps i heard the
contactor pull in so all right that's squared away got
my thermostat squared away thermostat
wire squared away let's hope that does it we're fixing
to go downstairs and all right i got a
pulled in contactor part of
that call i just had to put up
my phone and my camera because
it would have gotten wet
but i finally got that one done i literally spent over four hours
doing what i had to do there and i was going up
and down the ladder in and out of that attic
i probably went did that 20 times i'm thankful
my back's not hurting right now
but that's today's video thanks for watching
