Video Summary
AI GeneratedA sailing crew explores northern Australia's remote coast and ancient indigenous sites before overcoming a medical emergency and equipment failures to complete a challenging international crossing to Indonesia, where they transition from sailing to a new series focused on diving and surfing.
G'day guys, we've officially reached the final stretch
of remote Australia. In this episode
we're trying to catch dinner back to basic style
and we're exploring some remote almost forgotten
islands of northern Australia where we come across one of the rarest
and most endangered species
in the world. A sawfish.
These wild creeks and untouched islands are something we're really
going to miss but it's time to set our sights on the horizon
and attempt our very first international
crossing subscribe to the channel to join us
for the ride i've got a feeling this is going to be a
pretty wild one and as always thanks
so much to our crew on Patreon for supporting and helping
make this
possible i
wonder how old
this is nothing
to the next one
to the next
spot there's
There's a barrier in there
that would be the cast.
Not much luck with the rod,
but Jack has got another weapon.
We spotted something here, Frank.
We spotted something big, haven't ya?
Yep, sandbank, but that tide's coming quick,
so I think we've got kind of like one shot at him.
One's swimming around so fast.
Yeah, that's in there.
This mullet that we spotted, it's very atypical.
It's huge, and he staunches around
like if he's a predator of some sort.
It's just weird how he acts.
One that's saying staying still, but I want that big one.
Yeah, that one doesn't stay still, hey?
Well, it's a little mangrove jack.
Oh, what a big crab.
The jack is away and it's a bit deep for me to go by myself.
You want
to get him?
You want
to get him?
I think it was too deep and yeah, what's your excuse?
With the wind and the, he couldn't quite aim right.
I don't know what happened.
I missed it completely,
and then the crab then grabbed onto the spear,
and then he let go of his claw, so, yeah.
Oh well, we've got a call for lunch.
Oh, a
sawfish,
a sawfish,
oh my
goodness.
A sawfish, look, he's coming right in the shallows.
That's a pretty cool,
can you see the eyes over there?
That is so cool, one of the rarest animals in Australia,
it just swam straight past us.
It's a good size as well.
That's incredible, epic, how cool is that?
I was not expecting that.
Yeah, I thought it was a shovel nose.
No
way,
that's
so
cool.
Right, let's sneak through the mangroves here
and
see if
we can
get
something
on the
bow.
Nice one.
First shot.
This is such a great little ambush spot.
A whole school of them came past.
Nice, beautiful
mangrove jack.
Fish on.
That is the right species anyway.
Oh, he just spat the hook.
He just spat the hook, bugger.
That was a
barramundi.
Right on dark.
Finally! I've been casting like a hundred times
and had so many scary thoughts.
Scary thoughts.
Something's chasing those mullet.
I hope it's not a crocodile.
Whatever it is, it's going nuts.
Wow, he's still got a lot of kicking to do.
They must have hit my popper like 50 times.
Yeah.
Every second time.
Come on up.
Oh, he's huge, Fran. Big queenie.
Oh, wow. Nice one.
Nice fish.
it goes oh look at them going wow too big
for us it goes oh look at them going wow
come on is that a finger mark oh
no trevally it's a good trevally
it's a nice one isn't it
the colors so bright nice fish can
you get him up here yeah nice one
yeah we'll release him do you want to let me release him for you
bye nice fish let's go explore
somewhere new right down
in the corner here looks
pretty cool into the
river where have you got the right species perhaps
the wrong size a little mangrove jack
something's caught our eye up here come check
this out i think a step on it
a graveyard of oysters and shell middens look there
is so many they love the oysters
Oysters are definitely the favorite meal, hey?
Wow, it's a huge pile.
So for those that hadn't picked it up,
this is an ancient feeding area
for the aboriginal people, basically.
They were referred to as a shell midden site,
but this is where they would have sat
and eaten oysters over years and years and years,
and then it accumulates a huge big pile
like we're seeing here today.
There's another even bigger one over here, Fran.
What did you find?
This could be an axe head, Fran, an axe.
This is more or less what this aboriginal axe
would have looked like,
with the stone head secured to a wooden handle
using string or natural fibres.
Pretty cool find.
Made it to the top of a sand dune and now down a valley.
And up we go again.
Last one down is a rotten egg.
Look at that.
We were not expecting that.
It's a full freshwater billabong.
That's amazing, so nice and peaceful,
the birds chirping in the background.
It's like the Kimberley, huh?
It does, doesn't it?
Well, we wanted to get to that rock, but...
We were hoping to get to there.
We kept exploring, we never know where to go,
but let's explore down this way.
That's the view.
Couldn't get
to any rocks.
Get ready for impact.
Ready for impact.
Whoa.
Don't
leave.
Let it go.
Look at this huge, big, overhanging ledge, Fran.
Just like balancing over the...
Yeah.
Did you spot something?
Yeah, come check this out.
this is pretty cool come around here oh my god yeah
and have a look up on the roof how did they
even get up there this that's a really really impressive
this giant what looked like dugong
this one is definitely a dolphin
and then there's other schools of what looked like the fish you
find in the shallows here yeah like mullets
and milkfish maybe trevally stuff that's a trevally
kangaroo you reckon yeah wow there how did they get up there
this is the best art gallery
you could ever ask for i remember chatting
to an indigenous older bloke in the kimberley and
he described when they painted on the ceiling
of the caves like this because they're very
superstitious and believe in the spirits
and that that type of thing it was to let like other people
know that came through that like oh this is maybe
the people here can fly or they have sort of you
know extra extra abilities to fly
and paint on the caves of the roof so they would like to scare them
off yeah i don't know if that's what happened here
but it's a pretty cool story anyway how the hell
did it get out there how did they get up there i don't know
this fish is gnarly camouflage you
come here to steal my AG1 i thought we
were going to share it yeah you
can have a bit we have been
drinking ag1 five years now
and why do you drink it why do you like it all right my favorite things
about AG1 is that it's super convenient i can have it every morning
no matter what and i feel like
i've done something good for myself
so even if that day i don't feel like exercising or
eating well if i have AG1 in the morning i've done something for myself
and i've started the day with
the right foot yeah great reason yeah we
are gonna tell me yours yes thanks for asking we actually
get this question all the time in the comments guys
so hence while we're explaining it but for
For me, I love how convenient it is as well.
So we don't need to take any other supplements.
AG1 is sort of the one-stop shop.
It covers everything for us.
And I love how, when we have it in the morning,
it sets us up for the entire day
in terms of like our energy and endurance levels.
We never know what's gonna happen.
Like we might be doing some diving later.
We might be climbing a mountain
or whatever's gonna happen.
We know by like having AG1 in the morning,
we're really, really set for the entire day.
Yeah.
That's what I love about it.
what and it's a lucky day because we have a QR code with a discount
or you can click also the
link in the description which will get
your free immune support bundle including omega-3 fish oil
and vitamin D3 and K2 on top of that guys that QR code
and link will also unlock a 90 day money back
guarantee so if you've heard us chatting about it
for years now is your best time to try for yourself
see if you like it otherwise
your money back win-win situation guys hope you enjoy it and now
we got a massive sail ahead so let's do it wish us luck we're off
and sailing with so many little
bays and hidden coves to explore
so we're just slowly cruising the wind behind you there behind
the camera is very strong we've just got
the small sail up we're cruising at about six knots up the
coast out behind the boat here
is incredible sandstone cliffs we just wonder how many
different caves are full of rock art
and paintings in there unfortunately we won't get a chance to
explore that section of coastline
but look at that huge cave there Fran i know i want to see the whole
yeah same same we're heading up around the corner
and hopefully there's some cool things to check
out around the corner
as well pretty shitty sea state
at the moment and uh there's a big
sort of storm coming behind us
so we're trying to get in around
this point it looks so nice
jack what have you
been snacking
on let's go go go
we've just spotted
a big school of
squid right in close to the shore let's see if we can go get them
all right let's try and go get them we haven't got
a squid yet this trip they're
some of the best eating things you
they're just off these rocks here
these squids have proven
to be really smart they just disappear as we arrive
very well camouflaged what happened oh i found them again
but they completely spooked so they're
out in the middle of the bay we'll need to use
the tender to get to them jump on let's see if
we can catch up with them get back here you little buggers we've got
the the drone i don't know if
it's cheating but we're gonna use it
to our advantage bird's eye view looking down at the
squid straight in front of it go go go paddle
paddle paddle oh are they straight below
us now oh they're so deep is that them or is that
fish so much pressure they're right in front of us
really yeah oh but they they scare
are they running away oh no they're running away really
I can see them at one
o'clock go go go oh they're
a bit deep as well go go
they're at 11 o'clock
11 o'clock 10 o'clock come back here you buggers
they're onto us friend one last shot at them
which way how far drive
at them I can't see them okay
They're going fast! They're going fast!
I think they're onto us. Oh they outsmarted us.
We've been outsmarted by a school of squid bugger
We should have brought a squid jig instead of a spear. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah
Yeah, well steaks for dinner. Steaks for dinner.
Jack I reckon I got something stuck in my eyes
It certainly looks like it. Does it hurt?
I've been having a headache for four days
and my eye was really sore
but we just realised there's something stuck in it
because it got red and Jack
and I both realised there's something in it. A bit of a
morning update that you don't want to hear.
What happened Jack? I think we gotta go back to Australia.
Unfortunately it's a medical emergency.
Fran needs to go to hospital to get this
thing out of her eye. We've tried everything overnight. We've tried the
hose we've tried the tap we've tried poking
and prodding at it but it's it's lodged in there it
needs to um we've talked to jack's mom
which is a doctor we talked to my optometrist and they
everyone reckons you need to get it out asap it's
been in there for we think four days but we only
realized yesterday because it got really infected
but yeah i think it happened when i was sanding
so that was four days ago. Bit of a lesson learned?
Yeah. Safety glasses on if you're sanding.
All right. All right we've got a hell of a sail to get back
but let's get you to hospital. Let's do it.
Let's do it. Coming up.
Yeah all right now we really need
to follow my hand
so drive straight
that way. Yeah good job.
But our sails
are just falling apart
that really doesn't
look good up the front there one of the beams
is sticking out hopefully it doesn't fall off
all right going down we were racing the sunset all day
and we have just made it back to the
anchorage as the sun's setting behind us
and we're gonna get Fran straight into hospital
i'm actually really nervous oh
yeah yeah what are you scared
of i'm scared i'm gonna be blind
yeah i hope that they don't stuff it up the whole idea
of having a sharp tool poking in my eye
to get the foreign object out was stressing me out a bit
but luckily the doctor was an absolute
champion and got it out quickly
and painlessly now i just have to make sure it doesn't get infected
but with that little drama behind us it's time to set
our sights on new horizons and take Rami further
than we've ever been before we're officially checking out of Australia
and taking our floating
home across international waters Indonesia here we come
this is going to be our biggest crossing yet
wish us luck and then this shackle of the starboard bow
came off and it's under a lot of tension here
so jack is gonna jump into croc water and try to
reassemble it all together this wasn't how i wanted our first swim
do you want to give me the other one
to get it off your hands?
Can you lock this one off as well?
Yeah.
Oh no.
you made a swing
Ram is so light that we're actually doing two
or three knots without the sails or the
engine up
almost there
A bit of a temporary fix, but we'll see how it goes.
All right, we are off and sailing.
it really feels like we're on a race against time
a little bit late getting underway this morning
due to some maintenance and the wind has dropped
right off we're only going at kind of five knots
at the moment if we want to kind of reach
our goals each day we need to really pick up the speed
maybe with these squalls that come there's going to be some wind
so it's rare that we're actually
hoping for wind but that's definitely the case
the next few days there we go it doesn't take
much a little bit more breeze and we're now doing seven knots
so hopefully that can hang around
That wind has finally arrived.
We're averaging 10 knots and picking up to 12 knots as we're kind of
surfing down these waves, so it's exciting,
but we don't want too much more wind. How are you feeling, Fran?
Pretty good. Chilled? Nice. Look at us going. 11 knots.
All right, sails are up. We're leaving this anchorage.
Looks like a pretty nice day.
We've got about 15 knots of wind coming from,
I mean, that direction kind of behind us.
How does it look Fran? What's the plan?
We're aiming for another 70 miles today.
Kind of got to do that every day to get
to where we need to be, so wish us luck.
Oh shark, shark, shark, shark, shark.
We lost it. We were going too fast.
The sharks were after it. The fish was jumping.
That was crazy but he got away.
Something else jumped on.
We're so excited because we haven't had the chance
to eat fish while sailing every day all day.
You're gonna have to let him go, he's too small.
Oh no. How's it going? Big wobbly in here. Smells good.
Coming along.
It's so nice to have some fresh fish to work with.
What is it? It's fresh Spanish mackerel
in a crust of soy sauce, honey, sugar, sesame seeds,
on a bed of caramelized onion, cabbage.
Yum. And that's it. Sounds great. That's such a cutie.
Yum. And spring onion. Come on over guys.
Yeah they are. A couple of dolphins coming over for a surf.
What is it? Oh it's a mackerel.
Oh you want me to use the gun? Nice one.
This will be dinner and lunch for a couple of days,
Just what we needed, beautiful Spanish mackerel
No, what do you mean no? No, it's gonna spool us
Oh no, no, right at some point, oh no we lost it
That was our dinner, that was our dinner, look we've got
like one or two wraps now, look on here from the line it
was sizzling, my god, did you see what it
was, I didn't see it either, it
was jumping, we've just dropped anchor, some shallow rocks all around
us, but hopefully we're in a safe spot, we've sailed into the night
but we've managed to reach our goal
71 miles for the day, which we're pretty happy about, time for a big feed
and um, won't be long off bed I don't think
How are you going? We're getting there, we're hoping
to catch a little tuna, not a huge problem
Oh, it's right on the surface, oh
my, oh it's bigger than I thought
old man and
the sea kind
of a battle
that's
the biggest
fish we've
caught
on board
the yacht
what a start to our new adventure, well done friend
albino remora, yeah I'm gonna get him back in there
Oh, it's gone down
That was awesome.
It's crazy
No way did I think we
were going
to catch a marlin.
I can't believe we did that. After four days we finally see land.
That's Indonesia right there
and we're only eight hours away
Is there been a bed for the person on watch? Oh so exciting the
water is finally crystal clear blue. We're almost there, hey Fran
Yeah we're gonna get there in the dark.
we didn't want to arrive in the night time
but unfortunately that's how it's going to work out
hopefully we dodge the local fishing boats on the way in
wish us luck fingers crossed here comes another wave what
an awesome way to come in we're
literally surfing down that wave we got down
to 14 knots that's our top speed for the whole trip
here comes another one here we go
that's what we're looking
at the speed we certainly don't
They don't want to push it too much,
but it's pretty cool going that fast.
Oh, there's a wave.
How cool is that, eh?
Does it feel real that we're in Indonesia yet?
No, until we anchor.
Yeah, we've got a bit of a dark channel to get through
we're quite nervous about,
and then it's time
to celebrate.
Oh, hang on.
Already, Jack has gone to pick up the customs guys.
We got all our paperwork ready.
And yeah, we're in Japan.
Do you see the flag zone? Exciting! Hopefully everything goes to plan.
Agi, are you done?
Yeah, it looks like there's only a few of us left.
Maybe there's a rusted one.
There's a quarantine one.
We'll let you know when we get there.
It blew off on the way over.
Yeah, we lost it. We had strong wind.
So...
Which one you have is in both of you?
Yes.
now that we're legally in the country it's time
to leave the big smoke behind
and set sail for somewhere remote where did
they go every time i start filming the dolphins
probably about 20 minutes off our anchorage
and we've just caught a beautiful spanish mackerel
that's going to be dinner for a couple of nights
so beautiful beautiful perfect timing too the sun
it's just setting over
the horizon so many birds
they're welcoming us i
can't believe that i'm so
happy yeah so am i when we set out
for this adventure we said in the first episode we want
to sail across the top of australia into indonesia
and right behind us guys is uh we're in indonesia
so we've done it what an incredible adventure did you enjoy
that one that part of the world is
absolutely wild the crocodile the barramundi
the fishing the bird life it's just so alive
we really weren't sure what to expect hey
but like some of the the aboriginal history with the cave
paintings and and that type of thing
which we stumbled across was just incredible we hope
some of that excitement came across
to you guys uh following along in the adventure with us
yeah we weren't sure if we caught your attention without the diving
but i think you guys really
liked it and we're so happy about it yeah thanks i hope you liked it
but we'll see you next sunday
with a brand new series
and we're back diving we're back surfing we're back doing what we can
do best yeah that's right
when one adventure door closes another one opens and we're now about 18
000 islands to explore all around here
in indonesia it's going to keep us busy for a
little while you guys on patreon will
of course probably know what we've been up to you will have
had behind the scenes sneak peeks and Q&A.
So if that sounds interesting to the rest of you,
you're welcome to join us on Patreon
and that also helps fuel these type of adventures. So
thanks to the crew on there. We'll see you here next Sunday.
See you guys. Thank you so much for watching.
Thanks a lot. Cheers.
