Just Spotted Space Rock 2026 GD Inbound Towards Earth For A Close Fly By!

Ladies and gentlemen, JPL, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has just released a new space rock, a near-Earth object, that they believe is going to come extremely close to Earth. This should happen tomorrow afternoon. That would be April 9th, 2026. This rock has been named 2026 GD. And again, I believe the information was released today, but we will check on that. A rather large rock, between 60 and 70 meters, moving at around 13 kilometers per second. There's not much of an inclination. It's basically on the plane of the planets, which is good. The only good part, I guess. And you can see that it's going to, well, go in between the moon and Earth. at some point tomorrow. And we'll move it one day up. You can see that basically it makes just one dot there. Now, we get some statistics on this rock. Again, 60 to 70 feet in diameter, moving at about 13 kilometers per second, inbound for tomorrow afternoon. We'll get an exact time. All right, as we said, the solution date is April 8th, and it is today. total observations 117 observations over a two-day period it was first spotted on april 6th and they figured they better go ahead and tell us about it although it still has a very high condition code which means they're very uncertain about the size and its trajectory now condition codes are tricky a zero means they know exactly how big it is how fast it's going and where it's headed A 9 being they're highly uncertain about those actual things. A 7 is much closer to a 9 than a 0, so they're fairly uncertain about this rock. I don't like to hear that when I hear that it's headed in between Earth and the Moon, and it's 67 feet in diameter, moving as fast as 13 kilometers per second. It was seen by our automatic or AI software here. And we'll get some close approach data for you guys. All right, 117 observations. So they were able to extrapolate a lot of flybys. Both flybys before tomorrow and in the future, as you can see here. I still have a second page. Condition code of 7, this is a little strange. Let's get to our date here, April 9th, 2026. You can see that the last time it flew by was 2001. In 1996, 1906, 1901, it'll fly by again in 2031. But as you can see, this is the closest flyby here, 0.00168 astronomical units. So that's going to be halfway, just exactly halfway between the Earth and the Moon. That's going to happen tomorrow on the 9th, and they have it down to about 2300 UTC time, which will equate to about 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon Central Time here in the U.S. And please note that they have it at the time moving at just under 13 kilometers. per second pretty fast there and all of the distances are generally the same it's gonna be right in between the moon and earth so about 100 000 miles above earth sounds like a long way but with a condition code of seven we don't know if they're correct so how correct they are right All right, so in summary, folks, we've got 2026 GD inbound for tomorrow afternoon around 3 p.m. Central, and it looks like it's about 60 to 70 feet in diameter, although it has a high-condition code of 7. It looks like it'll pass right between Earth and the Moon, and we should be safe from this space rock.
