Well, I need to know
if I am rotated or not.
Am I coming through his landscape or is it sideways?
Need a little help.
Apparently it's sideways because I'm not getting the full picture.
Apparently.
All right.
Pain in the butt.
I can't get it to rotate.
It's this thing.
Hi, Lance.
Trying to get this stupid thing to rotate
and I don't want to do it.
Nuts.
What's that?
Nothing.
All right.
and who's this wade quite a title yeah we're
good i'm gonna show you frank here in a bit
we are up at bio aquatics
and have located a uh a little creek
a stream that has a lot of
remarkable things in it so we're gonna go check it out we
were here two weeks ago near caridina
shrimp, and a lot of very cool plants.
I stayed up on the bank, but this time I'm going to try to
climb down in it. Let's see if, see what we can see.
Let me show you where we are. Right alongside
the road, all kind of traffic coming out,
and here's the ditch. When we pulled up a minute or
two ago, we saw a little alligator in here,
but he was a little tiny one. Wasn't, wasn't near five
foot and frank's throwing bugs in feeding
the fish what's coming up midas yeah what's that
one that looks like a dempsey
or something with the orange trim
on the fins it's not a lot of
little fish you know midas
not midas jewel yeah the red ones
there's plants over on the other
side we got those before now i showed them to ones
in the water i showed them to chuck no
not pointing it no i'm pointing it right there
and um he said it didn't look to him like they
were illegal he thought he took some home to kind
of scope them out this is where club biologists
one of our club biologists there's a wild china's
in there too see there's one right there oh yeah
yeah probably can't see the little fish through
the camera it's too much reflection on the water
that's not a jewel i don't know what
that is i don't know that you can catch them either
yeah i'm sure i don't know how i want to get
in there the safest way to be that way but there's
a big hole right there up here what about walking through
the water deep right there but on the edge
walk that edge to there
and this edge to there i can't come any deeper i don't know if i can
get down here i don't know either that's kind
of steep you get back up it's not going to be easy
want me to help you down no i'll get down there i want
to decide what to do pretty creek it's not
a turtle that's a stick isn't it
so we want to get down there to that shallow why don't you take your
bucket and go on down i will figure out what i'm going
to do what i might do is just sit down here
then i can walk in if i sit right there i don't know
which side shower or this or that but it's
It's not that tall. Don't leave it in front of them.
Oh, I know.
You might be walking with the water right there.
Really?
You walk over here
a little.
Yeah.
That'd be the easiest way, probably.
See
that
big
hole?
Yeah, I got it.
Oh, yeah.
The regular grass shrimp, is that what you got?
Yeah.
I think I want to get over.
Don't pull me.
I'll probably
get around here.
Watch that stick.
You see it?
Mm-hmm.
That's where we're going, I guess.
I don't know where I want to go from here.
Right there.
All right.
Where the buckets are.
Back to the buckets.
Yeah, I'm good.
They're
shiners
in here.
Yes, I see a little school of them.
Put the net in and just push it up.
They'll go in the grass.
See them?
Well, they're shiners about five feet in front of you.
Put the net in and push it.
Put the net in and push it.
I want to get some of these shiners.
You're letting them get away.
They are what I'm looking at is.
They're two inches long.
yeah you
should have
brought
the good net
yeah you
don't have
your bucket
yeah
let's save
the Formosa yes
right are they
really I'm kind
of one-handed
here
so I really can't get in that and get down
in there I'm on no no I'm fine I
don't want to go I don't need to get in the water there's
no benefit to getting in the water
other than get my shoes wet.
I lost that last big female.
I'm trying
to see what
this says. I
got a bunch
of comments
here. They're
in the field.
Greetings
from Argentina.
They should be doing some cool fish trips there.
Hit the like button. Greetings
from the UK. Come to who? I can't read.
The sun's shining on my camera.
I can just about read the
the notes.
I can't read
who they're
from. Frank
uses the
pull method. I use the push method.
Frank believes he gets
more with the pull method. I believe I get more with the
push method. Who are you going to believe?
The guy who's down here getting them.
Yeah, I know. How's that? That's why I'm
bitching at it the way I am. Oh, there's a nice black.
You want to see a nice black? A black shrimp?
Yeah, you bet. Please do not point it at it.
I got it. I'm looking right at it.
That's a nice black one. Nice.
There's another one. No, that's a fish.
What are they? Are they promosas?
Two mollies and a promosa.
Okay, there's another one of the strange shrimp.
Oh, there's a bunch of them down here.
Oh, there's another beautiful black. I've got to get these.
Go for it.
Can you put my phone in your pocket?
Yep.
In my wallet.
yep time it
takes him
to let his
cigarette
two shrimp
die nice
if i could
get you
know i need
to go back and get in the shade where i can look
at this i think we've got all the close-ups we
need i'm gonna try to get back over here in the shade
so i can read comments and not have the sun
cooking
me yeah
if i sit
down i
won't
fall
down
there
now i
can
almost
read
this i
don't
know
Dwight, hope you're doing well
Yeah, I'm doing good, I'm alright
James Lance, Fisher and Fever
Hey Fisher and Fever
I need to talk to you
We need to get together
Who's this car dude
from the UK
What?
Yeah, do you know Lee Cardew?
I don't think so
Quite a title
All is well, yes
Alright, yeah, I'm chilling
Sitting in the dirt, right
Got a little bit
of sun on me
If I can slide over a little bit
i might be able to get out of the sun i'm not sure i can
do this i'm just kind of sitting in a bit of
a hole there's a hole right
alongside me there that's marginally
better all right this is as
good as it's gonna get what
do we got here really pretty little
creek it um kind of opens up right
here it's a bit of a fishing hole we saw some fish
in here oh maybe six inches long um threw some
bugs in and they came up for them it's maybe two foot deep
if that and then it shallows out
immediately yeah i thought i saw some yeah i see them some shiners yeah
a bunch of them bigger ones
too we need a cast net
or we could do a seine yeah that's
the way i'll just bring a seine up here
yeah put a net there
and then seine through them yeah that's right that would be we can catch
everything in here that way sure enough i'm sitting
on something sharp that's relatively
uncomfortable oh cool well we're getting black
shrimp Neocaridina which is pretty nice so i'm
going to try to get a colony of them going back
at this shop fortunately there
are no mosquitoes yet
if there were i'd be back
in the van i think yeah good idea
bug spray wonder what's up in the
culverts probably alligator yeah
I'm sure just about exactly
who went up in there Frank is
hitting hitting
the black shrimp so that's
pretty cool yeah really i
don't need to drink this true
enough car dude i'm doing pretty good i gotta see
the doctor on friday i just finished a battery of
tests find out why my blood pressure is up it just all
of a sudden went up but then all of a sudden
You know, my weight went up, too, and I think it was because I
was off diuretics for about, I don't know, two, three weeks.
And put weight on real quick.
I don't know if you can, no, you can't see the fish.
I need to get a polarized lens
for my phone.
You need a what?
A fire eel.
Yeah, they're not coming in.
Ain't got none.
I got tire tracks and snowflakes.
No fire eel.
I've got four tire tracks.
Four or five, I've got a bunch of them.
Well, they're sitting there.
No, got them last week.
They're right above the lungfish in that top row.
You've got to look for them.
They hide.
Well, I've had two of them for months,
and I just got the other two because I forgot I had the first two.
Yeah, they're snowflakes.
What did I say?
Oh, no, they're snowflakes.
you're right you're
right Alex's Aquatics
hello hello i think the
seaweeds are getting me
i'm getting little bites little teeny tiny
nasty bites hi frank chevy fish says hi frank
i'm sure she can what sort of fish do you catch
in the stream tell us what kind of fish are in
here frank a lot of pomosa bluefin killifish
um some bass some i don't
know there's two different
Looks like Jack Dempsey,
but I don't think it is.
Mollies, yeah.
Yeah, it's about six or seven species we've seen so far.
Jewels, and at least two species of shrimp.
Plus all kind of water bugs and plants.
A lot of plants.
Just some of the coolest plants.
And they're all growing down there.
A lot of ferns, yeah.
This is a very prolific little spot.
and extremely tannin water, as you can tell.
So here we are, sitting in the woods,
catching little fish.
And I'm just kind of sitting on the bank
because I'm relatively disabled currently.
I've got one hand,
and I'm having trouble walking on uneven ground.
Cardude says, incredible, Father Fish.
Patreon, thank you, Chevy Fish.
and father fish facebook show you fish
doing their job here thank you so much
see what
frank's
doing frank
loves this
he lives
for it yes
that's kind
of messed up
when i
do this
does the list of comments doesn't call
the chat doesn't come up does it can you all see the chat
where'd he go
is that more
or less muck
you're pulling
up algae
is there really
huh the algae's
full of shrimp he
says sam is here
hi sam might
as well since
you got a load
of them sam dam is
here and billy billy dog
billy dog yes does he
do this every day and what
does he do with his catch
Yes, he does this every day, and he brings it into Father Fish.
We have increasing numbers of tanks with native fish in them.
Right now there are two, three, four, five, six,
about ten tanks with natives, and it's ever-increasing.
Right, we've got vats all the way in the back, outdoor vats,
that have uh fairy shrimp scuds daphnia and uh
grass shrimp and then we've got vats and tubs in
the front of the store outdoors that have uh little critters
and mostly they're scuds and
daphnia this close-up is kind of interesting
the water is moving enough that it's hard to see
anything but you can see what the fish
are doing you can really almost see a fish yes a lot of
What he catches is used for food to feed other fish.
I sound low.
I'm just being quiet, Sam.
Yeah, it's a little hot and I'm kind of tired, so my voice is low.
I don't feel down particularly.
I'm just being a little more conversational.
I don't have my YouTube voice on, probably because I'm a little tired.
But I'm trying to do that.
I'm experimenting with not having
my high nasal voice where I talk so loud and so fast
everybody can hear me and understand me
and nobody wants to listen so I'm talking more quietly and
pleasantly and watching Frank
pretty cool he will spend one or
two hours doing what he's doing
until he's finished
Frank is a man of
enormous patience
and detail what you
got in there thank
you oh wonderful who said that who said
that this is a good voice who said that i can't read it
chevy fish no Sam Dam thank
you Sam Dam well yeah i agree
do you quarantine them in effect we do
because we put them in with other natives,
so we're keeping our natives pretty much separate.
There are some tanks that we've moved natives
into that have captive bred fish in with them,
but they kind of hang around for a while.
We've got them for a week or so before we do that, typically.
So there is some quarantining,
and it's helpful to do it because we do run across parasites,
funguses you know there are problems especially
in the summer in wild in wild
slow water you get more disease cold water you don't
so much but when it gets
real warm midsummer in slow water
or standing water there will be diseases
there will be fish with fungus on them a bacteria attacks them and
parasites get them and so forth
so we try not to bring those in when we see
that but if they do show up
then we look at that hitting the water there then we um we quarantine
them all right away so yes there are times
when i quarantine fish i just don't quarantine quarantine
fish if you understand what i'm saying you're tired i'm tired
but never tired of you who said
this lee stop with the south park voices
although you were really good at it funny say respect my
authority in that
like that lee nice
to see you James
aquarium cowboy is
here how late am i i
don't know how long we've
been on we came on about 10 hours we've
been on for 32 minutes no well we can
always use them for food but we need bigger ones
for food we need to do something to catch we need
to do something to catch some like two three four inch fish three
and four inch fish so we can feed
some of our bigger stuff right
that would have been good
so good to see you jim you're not late
you're right on time lamb
lanakans what's been the catch
so far probably 35 or 40
black Neocaridina, that's been kind of remarkable love
to go collecting in Florida, so many exotic
species to choose from, I could make
my own community tank, it's absolutely true, oh that's
you okay a lot
of people watch
your he's keeping only
he's reached the point
now where he's only
keeping the best of the best, you just saw a fish
black stripes, yeah, what's the black stripe and
that's the Midas, you saw a Midas, and Midas get quite big
in here, you know, they're probably six
inches or so in here tops, somebody's calling Frank on his phone
and if I take it out of my pocket
I won't be able to get it back in because they have
so much stuff jammed in there, so it's gonna
have to ring, there are, there
are gators up in there, up in that
culvert in England who's saying
this, let's see, Lee in England, we cannot take
a fish, let alone a single fish from our waters, so
good to see the freedom you have
the fish you collect will have a better better life in your
care or all or any one of us, that's really true, uh it
was a big one, hard to, just saw a big fish
here, could be, could be, I'm not seeing one
but then I don't have polarized lenses on my glasses, I
really need to do something about that, I looked
at some the other day at the tackle store but they
wanted 50 bucks for them, I decided nah I'll just lose them anyway
but they fit over my regular
glasses, there's some fish, look at the fish there
can you see them? Yes, there are a number of states
they're the same way, like not a plant
or even a stone, oh no it's terrible, what do you do with
little boys who want to go mucking around
in the creek, I mean what do you do? I've been doing it
my whole life, yeah, what do you do in a state where it's against
the law? I don't go to that state
screw it, I know it a little, yeah I would have
been, I would have been in jail as a six-year-old
in Maryland with the laws that were today
because I would have done it, I mean screw it, I'd have just
Did they make it illegal in Maryland?
Yes.
you cannot flip over a stone in a creek
I would have been arrested
It's ridiculous.
It's insane.
It's obscene.
It is an absolute obscenity.
It is vulgar.
It is hateful.
It is...
What do little boys do?
Violence.
It's an act of violence.
Same thing little girls do.
They're curious about things.
Have you found any bluefin killies?
Yes
Yes, a lot.
Yeah, we've got a bunch of bluefin killies
A lot of smaller ones too
We used to take fish, sand, etc. from my creek
It's an aquarium cowboy
That would be a bummer, wouldn't it ever?
Fun to collect, Sam Downs says
Then spend money and get it looking genetic.
It'll even do that.
Even need to do that.
I'm going to try to get up on my feet and come back over there.
So I need your help.
Over which way?
Back to the van, I think.
Now that pole is right next to you.
I know it is.
I know it is.
Grab my phone.
no watch your foot yep all right you got it
almost don't step there step where my foot is
right now okay again don't let go of me okay okay
wonderful you're okay yeah oops watch that hole
there too got it where do you think you gotta
go whoa whoa whoa what do you want to do just
calm down calm down here okay
this is slick now yeah up here is better can you get that
I don't want to have to crawl over that log.
Let me just sit on the log.
I can go down here.
Okay, I can do it.
Oh, you're stepping on orchid.
Really?
Yes, a type of African orchid.
All right, I'm good.
Ground orchid.
Thank you.
Okay.
Oh, my, look at that.
I saw that going over there.
I thought it was mother-in-law's tongue.
It's an African orchid.
Really, it is, isn't it?
Oh, that is so cool.
Look at that.
Look at that. Isn't that wonderful?
I need to get this screen.
There it is.
I would mess around on the river and be amazed at the light.
My dad built a pond and just let it be.
In no time, we had frogs and spawn with tadpoles.
I was hooked from there on.
He also had birds.
Ian is saying my first fish tank,
I collected local goby species and wild plants.
really fun experience very cool uh let's see lee i had my aquatics
and also flies and wild birds
and bees and dragonfly i watch
a dragonfly being born wow too cold yeah look at the wilder
we gotta keep that nice it's actually
an invasive it's not not native
but it is a ground growing
We got water? Great. Yeah, I can.
I was going to bring
this back to the van. Huh?
No, I'm going to take that to the van. Got it, thank you.
All right, I'm going to go sit on the log.
What is this plant called? The fern?
I can't think.
It's a fern that dies and comes back.
A resurrection fern.
It gets green and then it looks like it dies.
it's called
resurrection
fern oh you're
tired come on let
me get where i
can read this and
get a reflection
i can't read
let's see no it's
okay i gotta go
car dude thank
you for stopping
Again, we are swimming.
