Without dropping it
Frank's collecting plants
Yeah, it's legal. There's nothing illegal.
There are no illegal plants.
I mean, there are a few invasives that you're
not allowed to propagate, but that's
not one of them. I've had those. That's a cool little plant. I think
it's a sword.
Nice.
A knight's
trail. Is
he really?
Huh.
Hi, guys.
I hit
the wrong
button. Sorry. I figured I'd come back for a few minutes
just to uh kind of say goodbye in the appropriate
way rather than just run off and besides with
Frank got in the water so I thought that'd
be fun, phototics yeah get some of that that's a good
plant oh okay yeah get some
more of it make sure you get
a decent root system
and grab a couple
of handfuls
of that other stuff
right there get some
more of that where'd
he go there he is
something
bites you
really
just wants
you out
of there huh
the fish or
it could be
moving you
trying to move you a lot
of fish will do that they'll just
whack oh yeah right he's talking
about a gopher tortoise that lives
in his mother's backyard it's
a male he's got that
is that log
or what
is that all right
i'm gonna go back
to the van we're
good you got 40
or so
That's plenty.
Yeah, let's head out.
Maybe we got time to do one more thing.
What got Frank a fish?
Something bumped him.
Don't know what it was.
Probably
a tilapia.
Maybe an alligator.
Might have been, but I don't think so.
It was slimy and soft, he says.
All right, we're gonna work our way over to the van.
Think I'll drink my water.
Probably a
bass, right?
There, I'm hydrated.
To the
van.
Hmm, developing a little more stamina.
This is not
totally
debilitating
today.
Calling me,
put the finish vent,
put the step into the car,
turn on the engine, you see working,
and we'll finish up here.
Lord love a duck.
All right.
Hydration is motivation, says Chubbs.
Been working on deep breathing.
Chevy Fish says, hi Marky0306.
Patrick Polson is here,
hi Patrick.
Chevy Fish, yes, Frank's having fun.
First time he's been able to get in the water in ages,
and he's so excited.
And she says electrolytes are best.
Keep Powerade, water, and peanut butter
on you at all times.
Peanut butter.
Yeah, peanut butter's got too many carbs in it,
but I really need something.
I had, what have I eaten today?
I ate a Polish sausage with some onion,
and I've been drinking.
So really, I've been drinking a lot, actually.
But I'm not eating much.
Let's see if I can find a water in here.
I've got one, but it's not cold.
It's a little cold, but I don't think I can open it.
Weasel to death glory.
I can't open it.
One-handed is really a pain.
I said, he'll be back, Terminator style.
Sir Father Fish is epic.
I appreciate it, Lee.
What else is cooking here?
oh yeah i that i simply hit
the wrong button don't know quite how i did
that anyway well that was
interesting so we've got a bunch of black neocaridina
that's pretty neat now i need to
take seriously trying to get a colony
of them going you know what i might do is put them in
with my elasoma they'll eat the babies
but i will get more big ones
and that'll be cool
yeah peanut butter is high in protein
and sugars it usually knocks my my uh blood sugar into a
cocked hat
so i try not to do peanut butter sue says
i sometimes hit the wrong button oh don't
we all don't we all leave and mary pet said oh
i thought i missed you but you didn't miss me
but you thought you missed me but you didn't miss me
but you thought you missed me you thought you
lost me but you didn't lose me
because here i am you'll never lose
me Mary Page Chattanooga ed is
here eventually frank will
show up soaking wet i
think he thinks he's got
a pair of pants here
otherwise he'll just be soaking wet all right
so what time is it i don't know i can't tell
let's see i can tell i can look at frank's phone
no i can't look at frank's phone because in my
pocket and i can't get into my pocket
because it's got everything that's precious to him in it
jim said that oh ---- i just dropped
his phone i don't know where
it dropped oh it's gotten bad
it's gotten hopeless i think i need to um if i open
the door it'll fall on the ground and hit
the road and break
so i can't do that 11 30. what time
is it somebody tell me what time it is 21 36
here really 9 30 36 is
that right hmm i thought
it and here you are see
that's all you have to do is
think it i did that yesterday was it yesterday
or the day before day before i was thinking about
john john fish john's been on it's
been a while he's gonna come on again it's sunday afternoon
um i thought about him as i was going home right after i had dinner
and i called and he was right
around the corner having dinner he was 35 40 miles away
so he'd come down to see me hit the shop the
minute i was gone went out to get dinner
and then i called him just as he was finishing dinner
so whenever we talked for another hour
and we had such a delightful conversation it would have been
great fun to record that conversation.
It was noteworthy.
Any notes, any thoughts on decomposed
granite in the aquarium? Decomposed granite.
Decomposed granite. It's called sand. Well,
that's silica.
Decomposed granite's got to be inert.
I'm not sure I know what you're talking
about decomposed granite you don't mean crushed
granite you mean rotten granite granite that has
well decomposed as you said never had
the experience don't really know 338 tallahassee
time chevy fish says tallahassee you're
not it's really early i thought it
was much later
340 so we got a while which had new guns had trouble
with this truck late in england i'm
waiting for my bedtime story how about you recite recite
the whole of shrek i i don't know that
story crushed granite well crushed granite crushed
granite would be fine it'll be totally inert
totally totally decomposed there's something else
though i've seen that decomposed there are
different things that decompose.
But I wasn't aware that granite was one of them. I suppose
ultimately everything does. What have you found so far?
Mostly near Caridina. That's kind of what
we came for. And that's really what he's spent his time catching.
Plus some nice plants. I think
we'll have some
pretty cool plants.
Chad's making a phone
call to his mechanic.
All right, I'm
running out of gas here. Lee wants a story.
God, I don't do stories on command. They just kind of
come up. They sort of flow.
They sort of come out of me like some kind of, some kind of vapor,
some kind of spirit. They come and there's a story.
So, but nothing is coming up.
Vroom, vroom. Nothing. No story. Nothing. Vroom, vroom.
Not getting it. 240. Got it. You want some, he says.
Chubbs wants some. Mary Poppin in to see what y'all up to.
Not a lot. Story time. Sam Dam says.
Alright, give me a topic. How's that? I need a topic.
I need a story topic. And I don't want to hear Shrek.
Because I don't know for Shrek.
You are the story, Father Fish.
Funny guy, you said that.
Mary Payne said that.
Yeah, it's probably true, actually, isn't it?
Oh, well, I don't know.
Story.
Think of a story.
The kind of stories I think of,
of a personal nature, are too embarrassing to tell.
They're stories of failure,
of crushing defeat, of agony.
me. They're stories of misery and pain,
horror, toil, terror.
Stories that do not bear repeating.
Stories so filled with angst and sadness
and brokenness that they are not worthy of repetition.
So many, many, many,
many, many stories.
Tell me a story.
Tell a story.
Tell a story.
Before I go to bed.
You promised me, you said you would.
You gotta give in, so I'll be good.
Then I'll go to bed.
Go to bed, Lee. Go to bed.
Story of the biggest fish I ever caught.
Well now. I've never caught a really big fish.
Biggest fish I ever caught. I used to go fishing
with my grandparents.
These were my mother's parents.
My grandfather, Tom, lived on the water.
He was a waterman and a farmer and an herbalist
and an orchardist. He was a wonderful man.
My grandfather, Tom,
worked for Glenn L. Martin during the Second World War,
and he was responsible for making all of the tools.
He ran the tool and die shop at Glenn L. Martin,
all of the tools that were used to build all of the war planes
that Glenn L. Martin made
that flew in the Second World War.
Well, when that was all over, like a lot of men and women,
once the war was over, they were done with it.
So he decided to go back to his roots and buy a little farm in the most
remote place he could find in Maryland on the eastern shore.
So he and his brother, he was the oldest of 12,
six boys and six girls.
He and his next oldest brother, George, started looking around.
One Sunday morning, they were on an island.
An island out in the middle of the bay.
I mean, it was an island.
Separated on the east side by a small
bridge that went over a channel.
Separated on the west side by miles and miles of bay.
there was a ferry that took them to the island
so that day that saturday all day they spent
roaming around the island looking for a piece
of property on sunday morning they went to a little
local inn and they were having breakfast
and there sitting at the bar was an old farmer
bitching and moaning and whining and complaining
beyond words about his horrid lot in life being
stuck with this lousy piece of dirt
that he could not grow anything on.
Well, George and Tom sidled
up to him and started talking and told them why they
were looking for just such a place and how
big was it and where was it and was it near the water
and on and on he said come on i'll take a
look at it he was a few sheets beyond the wind
so they drove about three miles to this little dirt
road opened up onto about
a 500 acre farm sitting on a point
of land in the middle of what is now
known as Cox Neck Creek they bought it they
gave them the money they bought it they bought
it that day they bought it
and then they surveyed it they found
five miles of waterfront five miles
in and out every little cove it was astounding well
my grandfather then contacted his brothers
and sisters and offered them a piece of the pie six
of them refused six of them happily agreed
and they started holding meetings as to what they
were going to do with this find well George
george was a fancy boy george always had
a big fancy boat smoked a big fancy cigar that's not
true but it fits the persona worked for SK Meats
as a sales rep sold hot dogs always had good hot
dogs he wanted to have an inn he wanted to build
an inn that people could come to and visit where
he could be and my grandfather said i'm back
anyway my grandmother said yes george i know
you'll be out front hobnobbing with all the guests
and Lena Gordon's wife, Tom's wife
his name was Thomas Gordon, my brother
was named after him, Thomas Gordon, Tom said, and I'll be
under the building fixing the broken pipes
and Lida will be out in the
kitchen sweating over the dinners
and you'll be out having a grand old time
being the man of the hour, no George we're
not going to do that, what we're
going to do is sell lots
so that's what they did, they sold lots, now the very
first lot they sold was one acre sitting
fairly high on a little point of land
where no house had ever been built
and the lot alone sold for enough to pay off
the whole farm, so they started in the
black lived there, that was 1943, 44
Within two years, 45, it was after the war,
might have been 46, it was just after the war.
Within two years, the state of Maryland,
guess what, was building, guess what,
a bridge from Annapolis to Kent Island.
It's now the heaviest traveled route in the state of Maryland.
And you would not know, pretty little farm country state island.
Cox, yeah. What is it called? My brain just went out the window.
What's it, a Kent Island? Kent Island.
So I went, my daughter lives there today.
She lives in the oldest house on Kent Island.
It was built in about 1780
and was commandeered by the British when they were,
in 1812, when they were attacking Baltimore Harbor.
That was Francis Scott Key era stuff.
We've never taken a meter around the yard to find coins
and buttons and buckles and the like, but I'm sure it's loaded.
anyway so that's my story i wound up buying
a piece of uh i bought my grandfather's house
when he could no longer stay there
and i lived in it for about 15 years until
my life went totally kaput that's the tragedy
and the terror i was discussing earlier um and
sold it for a tidy profit that subsequently disappeared
and here i am selling fish in florida
and talking to all my good friends
on youtube about the wonders of father fish's
fantasy life so is that enough story
for you lee he says stuff mary poppins
stuff Shrek stuff the sound of music
this is a story if ever there was one I
am it what's the word encapsulated oh thank you I don't think
that means what
you think it means I noticed their father fish had it in
them I just had
to hook them oh dear thank you Lee thank you all what time is
it do we need to move along here what
do we do we don't want to be stepping on
toes. Should I rinse the sand I picked from the local creek?
No, I would not. Just use it as is
and it will bring all the life from that creek into your tank.
What's the difference between
a farmer and a puppy?
Oh dear God, Punchy, the difference between a farmer and a puppy.
Tell us please,
what is the difference if there is one between a farmer and a puppy?
a puppy grows up and quits whining mostly yeah
i expect i expect have you ever had a hard time
keeping fish from a did

Lovely, Mary Page. I love you too.
Love all you guys. We done? Leave. Encapsulate it.
Oh here, I'm going to get a lesson now.
To show or express the main idea
or quality of something in a brief way.
To completely cover something,
especially so that it will not touch anything else.
Okay, have I ever been noodling?
Not for catfish.
I've noodled for other stuff.
In truth, I noodle in my tanks every day
because I'm always catching fish by hand.
I find it's more gentle.
